Anyone that thinks Battlegrounds is random... is clueless

I’ve been playing battlegrounds for years and it’s obviously NOT random. First of all, the odds of dying by exact damage are low… like 5%. But, I seem to die by exact damage 50% of the time. Watching the supposed random battle make every single thing go against me it can. It so funny when all of your opponents minions are alive with only 1-2 life left because it made sure to make all your attacks as inefficient as possible. It’s already the MOST luck dictated format I’ve ever played. But, they have obviously programmed it to favor players(I assume those that spend). I’ve never spent a penny on this game, hence crap luck. It’s just so crazy to watch the battle simulator do everything it can to make you lose. Certain minions seem to have magnets on them that make the enemy attack every chance it gets. My banana splitter will always be attacked the moment a taunt doesn’t prevent. Random? I think not.

Nah we did a case study on this where we set up a gofundme to buy the full standard collection for the worst player we could find on the forum and he still couldn’t get out of Platinum in ranked standard.

When was this? Is this person still around?

Omg, did you blog this stuff?

To me this reads “first of all, I know virtually nothing about probability but I’m certain that I know a lot.” Because 5% is so incredibly wrong that it’s funny. You have become Dunning-Kruger, the destroyer of reason.

That’s hilarious if true… wish I had been around to witness that.

OP is way over the top. But he’s not completely wrong and everyone knows it. I remember waaaay back in the early days of HS BG’s when people were tracking how commonly cleaves struck corners given the odds. It was WAY off.

We know damn well things are cooked a bit. But there’s no way its giving “certain players” a boost, even if they pay. Blizzard isn’t going to care enough to pick on individuals like that. But the game is definitely coded with some ‘not quite really random’ stuff here and there. If you work in game design, you understand why.

I must apologize. I’ve only had my first sip of coffee, so I can’t give this ridiculous post the chuckle it deserves. You DO realize there are TWO people within your argument, right? So, on one hand you have someone losing, while on the other side of the board, there’s someone winning. From what I derive from this conspiracy theory you’ve put forward, it’s only rigged when YOU lose and others win, but what if you win? Is it still rigged. OR is it just a game with some RNG wherein you’ve had some bad luck? (It’s the latter, but you think as hard as you can to figure it out).

Please don’t accidentally include people who aren’t crazy, thanks

If you buy a portrait or an emote in the shop, your next games are automatic top 3. I’ve posted all of the data before and it keeps getting ignored. $$$ = results .

Obviously the other person is a Whale that spends tons of money on Hearthstone because every other person is a whale. That or Blizzard uses some kind of Schrödinger rigging machine that somehow makes it so 2 different people lose the same game.

Really?! What do you think it is? 5% is being generous. There are many games where the chance is 0% because your life is lower than your opponents tier level. What do you calculate the odds of taking exact damage at 32 damage? Knowing the opponent could have done as much as 42? For that game that odds are less than 2.5%. 5% is calculating as if you can only take up to 20 damage. So, what do you calculate the odds of dying by exact damage as Mr Math man?

4 out of 7 players literally can’t die on a hit of 16 or more. So the average damage on a lethal hit is absolutely below 20.

I don’t know precisely, but exact lethal occurs at least a double digit percentage of the time.

yes, and some of those are 0% chance because life is lower than opponent tier. And the top 4 can take up to 42 damage, so what do you calculate the odds of being? Just the idea you mentioned of double digits is crazy. Even 10%. As if you can only take 1-10 damage.

In order to have written and unironically believed in the opening post, you have to have a fundamentally incorrect understanding on how randomness works. Trying to explain to you how common exact lethal is would be like trying to explain GPS to a flat earther. Let me just say that you don’t know what you think you know, and wish you a good day.

Seems random. I am leveling up at an expected pace.

You’re correct.

While you’re for certain just running some dumb conspiracy theory…

People have only so much play patterns in those games.

This means that it’s not 100% random because there are other human beings on the other side.

Lol. Sure, buddy. You can’t even point out flaws in my calculation method. So, what do you calculate it at, lol? I love people that come to say “you’re wrong”, but not offer the correct answer.

It barely even occurred to me to look for flaws in a thing that doesn’t even exist but I guess non-existence is a flaw of a sort. You don’t have a calculation method because you aren’t even calculating anything, you’re pulling numbers out of your behind.

And we should all defer to your expertise on that topic, certainly.

I love that you can unironically call them out for acting like you.

Its very rigged yes.

Maybe that is why they match 14k players with 7k players.
