Must admit this one’s got me a bit stumped. Tried all the “standard” options (stonewall, focus on “target” minion only, etc.) , yet consistently find myself with extremely low health for scorpion or just after, resulting in death every time.
Has someone figured out some good tactics here, or is is pure RNG?
It would seem taking out the “target” minions would be key, but it takes a while to get enough mana to buff 2-attack Chargers to sufficiently high attack. Can’t stonewall; the jade golems start stacking up and then there’s poison. Seems like you’d want to wait until he built up a board and then take it all out in one go by killing the “target”, but again, you don’t survive that long as his damage/powers keep stacking. Logically, then, all paths seem to lead to max dps… but you still don’t survive long enough to get enough minions, or large enough, into play. The commanders with their +1/+1 have nobody to buff, and even so, one point? truly insufficient.
I await other folks’ insight as to what key strategy I have missed. Perhaps there is a perfect opening hand that clears the way which I simply haven’t found yet. (northshire cleric/pw:shield/inner fire for a cheap 5/5 seems promising…)
Play taunts. He smashes the target minion into them and kills it for you. Use the chargers just for the killing blows.

Played 3 games, won the last one.
I did not get the feeling that my cards did have an impact.
I just won because the Monkey King drew badly … or just did not play all the good cards he played the first two games.
I did 3 games more or less the same.

Buff cleric and heal her back to safety before crushing his first form to make the second phase as quick as possible.

Took me two tries, first one I got overrun with Jades so I can see how that can be crazy. 2nd game I got cleric and did Power word Shield and Innerfire, so attacked twice into into it and didnt have to worry about jades. Not sure if you need a strategy for the other guys they were straight forward for me.
Dream opening is Cleric -> Power Word Shield -> Divine Spirit -> Inner Fire. You get a 10/10 Cleric that kills the first major minion and mostly deals with the second as well.

Beat him on first try, seems fairly straightforward? What part is causing you troubles?
Decided to go with buffed cleric approach.
Rather than play cards, focused on draw for the first several turns. Drew lucky for cleric > PWS x2 > Divine spirit > inner fire and only down a few hp.
Ended up with a 14/14 that one-shotted the “target” minions and then took out the King himself in three turns. Tossed in a very few charges, taunts, and heals along the way to keep the cleric safe & avoid burning cards. Might take some good RNG on the draws, but since you get to pick, it seems much easier to achieve than normal. This strategy worked - mostly because he never gets an opportunity to hit back. MK was dead by the time I had 8 mana.

It makes it very easy, doesn’t it?
