There seem to be so many (potential) cool cards in the new expansion… except I feel like Paladin seriously got neglected… They feel so plain and underwhelming.
Am I missing something here? Or is it going to be bottom dwelling season for paly?

I feel Paladin has alot of support for a control heal/prelate deck, and it also got support for a secret archetype as well.
I feel like folks are so accustomed to Paladin being an Aggro/Token class that they don’t realize just how good of midrange tools they got throughout last year that simply couldn’t quite measure up to the ridiculous power ceiling caused by mammoth. I have some good feelings about Healadin in the next meta.
Meh. Paladin’s just been having a rough time in general. When Witchwood came out, they got two aggro decks, split into 3 when Call To Arms was nerfed. It wasn’t until Rasta they got a non-aggro deck… which was DK Uther. I mean they did well, but they were pigeon-holed into an aggro role for almost an entire year.
We’ll see what happens, but honestly, Paladin needs some real goodies if it’s going to play a mid-range or control style, not just “fair” stuff.
Immortal Prelate deck might have potential, but we’ll have to see.
Honestly? Considering Pally has been one of the best performing classes (on avg.) since formats launched I see no issue if theyre taken down a peg or two this year.
I fully expect pally to do quite well this expac actually. Looking forward to building a nice prelate deck
My biggest concern is that we are halfway to a viable Dragon deck but few new dragons have been revealed so far… deja vu, as we don’t quite have a critical mass of powerful dragons to make it work.
Secret Paladin is the same thing, we have a bare-bones package but will it be enough to push a new deck - possibly as a package to Prelate??
Bit iffy at the moment.
Not even close OP sadly newer players are used to paladin being a class with very agresive and in most cases unfair decks, they’re getting a great midrange/control very solid set of tools IMO, so hopefully we can see paladin go back to it’s roots.
My main concern is still with the removal options available to control paladin. Since equality nerf, I swapped plates Beatles with doom sayers. Otherwise it is often hard to deal with aggro decks.
I for one am happy about DK rotating out. DK Uther is gimmick, but it still falls into the same non interactive OTK shenanigan. With cards like steed and stone hill going out, paladin will find it more difficult playing the value game. As much as I want the dragon paladin concept to work, I am afraid that paladin will end up having one or two midcore midrange decks, at best.
Have you looked at the Priest cards? Yeah, there’s nothing new in the list of reveals so far. Including the Legendaries. Bad Drakonid OP, Wild Big Priest Support, Bad Spellstone, 2 Mana Faceless For Deathrattles, Shadow Word: 4 Attack Minions, Lackey Card That’s Awful With Big Priest/Spellstone Cards and Not Worth Copying, and Temporary Attack Reduction If You Wait Long Enough.
Paladin get’s Thekal support, Dragon Synergy Support, a 1 mana Secret to help counter AOE, a Recruit Paladin card, secret synergy overall… it’s something. They’re cards that work with other cards.
Priest doesn’t have cards to work with, and it’s receiving cards that need a lot of synergy to be good. And I don’t think it exists yet. Priest is in terrible shape, not because these cards are bad, but the cards for the last year have been bad. But hey, 2 commons and a rare left to go, right? I’m sure that’ll fix everything.
It’s a rotation, a massive impact rotation, bigger than anything this games ever seen.
It’s essentially a reset of the game (standard)
All 9 classes are loosing many many many key cards for current archetypes.
That’s a good thing!!
That’s the point of a rotation is to change things up in a big way.
Pally has got it no worse or better than the other 8 classes.
After rotation we will se how things pan out because we’re going to be looking at a bunch of new ideas and decks
The expansion shouldn’t go from 0 to 100 on specific archetypes. Dragon Paladin has 3 other expansions and classic to build something decent just like Dragon Warrior was supported with only 4 class cards, of which only 2 made the cut in the meta Odd Dragon Warrior.
I agree. But if Blizzard has lain the groundwork for a competitive Priest deck, I can’t see it. At best, it’s Control Priest with Cabals. That dies to anything as aggressive as a stiff breeze.
Warrior cards looks really bad with a really forced synergy.
Not only that, but being able to get 29 armor and 30 HP with just a bunch of cards + the fact that you still have a lot of ways to clear boards as a Paladin and get extremely powerful endless end game value with Prelates + Undataka and / or Kangor spell (and after rotation happens, mechs will be a force to be reckoned with, especially on paladin with eggs and the ability to manipulate minions’s stats in a bunch of ways).
paladin got great cards past year,i think they will have a lot of options.
well the final reveal stream is today
To be fair Paladin has been a tier 1 (mainly Aggro) class for quite sometime throughout the year if the raven with new co trol tools I’m glad to see Paladin stray from
While in order to answer OP one would have to look at the whole collection and first filter Odd cards. Then you look at every Odd card and think “ok, do any of these Odd cards in Shadows make the Odd-Paladin team?”
If the answer is yes, even 1 card, then yea Paladin got a boost since Odd Paladin is and has never been a medium-power deck. Upping 2 of Odd-Pal’s 30 would be a big deal.
When it comes to Dragons I feel Paladins probably didn’t get enough to push a Dragon deck. However, when you look at the secret synergies they have some very potent early game tools…so I think we will be in for a season of aggro secret paladin being a top deck… Turn 1 secret into Turn 2 ‘Fiery Axe’ or a 3/4 minion is a strong start to the game.
