I’ve been playing since Naxxramas and have experienced practically every meta this game has ever had, but as time goes on I feel less and less enticed to play this game. I feel like there is hardly any decision making anymore, and is essentially just a giant game of rock, paper, scissors. I won’t deny this game has always had that sort of element in it, even a long long time ago, but it feels way more prevalent nowadays. I even think some of the more RNG focused expansions had more decision making and skill. I can still have fun the first week of an expansion, but the majority of the time I have this feeling that no matter who wins or loses, I still won’t have fun. It feels really bad to see this game changed for the worst as I’ve grinded almost all golden heroes and reached legend multiple times. I think the main cause of this is because of the amount of curvestone cards they’ve added, on top of the win conditions that you need to draw first before the other person. I personally think Un Goro is probably the best meta this game has ever experienced and the dev team should look at that to improve this game.
Sounds like a good time to take a break from the game.
permanent break more like it
It’s nuts to me how many times you say this to people and nobody seems to get it.
Often small breaks lead to bigger ones. But if you’re ready to drop the game entirely, by all means go ahead. Plenty of great games out there to take Hearthstone’s place.
Which is why I keep saying it ![]()
You seem to browse this forum a lot, which is why I’m surprised that your solution to the team’s poor decisions and balance is “take a break.”
From a player perspective, what else can you do when a game stop being Fun?
Why subject yourself to It on your free time? Just put It down, come back later.
I’ve seen a lot of people who feel like they need to stick with the game because of how much time and/or money they’ve invested into it.
That is, in a word, stupid. Life is way too short to waste it playing bad games. If you don’t find Hearthstone fun anymore, your best option is to drop the game (temporarily or permanently) and find something that you actually find fun. Sticking around a game you don’t enjoy in the hopes that it’ll get better seems pointless to me.
Leaving the game and then coming back later to see if it’s fun, sure. But sticking around while it isn’t fun? Makes zero sense to me.
As for the team’s poor decisions… there isn’t anything more impactful, IMO, than quitting. Devs notice that sort of thing, and it’s far more urgent an issue than people who grouse and complain but keep playing anyway.
Don’t bang your head against a wall you can easily walk around, my friend.
Every game I’ve ever played I’ve eventually gotten tired of and moved on from. Every tv show and every book series too. You can only stay enthusiastic about something for a certain amount of time before you change or it changes or the world changes and you just don’t love it as much anymore.
I don’t think Hearthstone is worse than it used to be. I’ve seen people say the same thing about literally every long running series ever made. When something changes some of the fans are going to feel left behind and that’s normal. There’s almost certainly another game out there that you’ll love just as much as you loved the old hearthstone. You just have to find it.
