Any Wild exclusive players? What is Wild like?

Or those who play Wild more than standard.

I tried TWO games. Spent 11k dust on two decks that i saw myself using for a long time. Was ready to just hit legend on standard and then switch to wild for fun + more ranks, but man. So many old cards, so many new cards, all those crazy combos. I felt out of the loop.

Has it become predictable? It seems like every game could have endless possibilities because of the card pool. Is it pretty refined? Same old decks? I cant ever imagine that format getting stale but i can imagine all the players playing the same deck
as they do
as they would
as they have
as they insist.

Someone give me a huge rundown on wild. I’ve heard of warlock and paladins being a problem.

I unenchanted all wild cards after that. Took the huge dust loss and bit the bullet.

After the mini set and waiting until the last possible minute to nerf the very obvious broken cards it’s cancerous. I recommend waiting until the starcraft cards are adjusted before putting anytime into playing wild.

I like wild but when it comes to balance its usually the devs last priority so there are a lot of broken decks that you will see on ladder because everyone has to play the same broken crap or else it just wouldn’t be hearthstone. Part of the main draw that attracts people to wild are the busted combo decks. Wild can be a fun gamemode but if you can’t adapt easily to the constant busted overplayed decks it can be very frustrating for some.

do they use starcraft cards over in wild

Go see for yourself haha. I just played a game where I was dead on turn 4 and my opponent had two double digit minions on board. The overbuffing issue is bad in wild. No board clear to that caliber exists under like 8 mana. Majority of the wild meta is dependent upon the broken mini set cards and a lot of the older decks have disappeared for the time being. Similar to standard the mini set has taken over the meta and leaves no room for other decks.

I hit legend at december, and with the same deck, I couldn’t perform in standard. Wild is more surprising.

The real life competitions only happen for Standard, so most competitive players play that.

PS you would do even better in Wild with a Wild-only netdeck.

I play both Wild and Standard, but over the past 3 years or so, I’ve played more Wild.

There are a few things that I like about Wild.

  1. Since there are usually multiple very powerful/broken decks, no one deck dominates the Meta. If you get tired of losing to Deck X find the deck that it is weak against and pound it for awhile.
  2. The Meta changes more slowly. It doesn’t experience big swings every expansion and mini-set. You can spend time to become an expert at playing your deck and expect to see a lot of the same types of opponents for quite awhile.
  3. As I sort of said, there are generally multiple viable decks. It will take awhile to get knowledgeable about the format and do well. You do have to have a fairly large library. You have to be able to modify your play style with the deck depending on opponent, and most of the good decks allow for some level of different strategy.

Some things you hear aren’t true. Lately, I’ve been playing a lot of Pirate DH. It mostly uses old cards and is viewed as an aggro deck, but I win a lot of games on Turn 8-ish. It has some legs if you plan properly. I finished at ~700 in Legend with it last month.

Ivtried, and the standard deck worked better on wild at december.

I know the best standard decks aren’t completely horrible for Wild but there’s usually a tweak that can make them overpowered for Standard if they had Wild access.

Which deck was it? I’m sure someone would find Wild cards to augment it and make it overpowered for Standard’s …standards.

Ive seen countless zerg and protoss decks which are standard decks and somehow they are running the wild ladder. That’s how you know the mini set is broken.

At what rank though? And are you sure they’re not improved by some Wild cards? The only “real” advantage of Standard over Wild (not really) this month is that Standard is extremely fast on average and a lot of Wild decks are Renathal based and very slow so Standard can kill them but that’s mainly in low ranks because Wild can do broken things to them like milling them fast which doesn’t exist in Standard.

I’ve played at least 30 matches in diamond ranks where I’ve faced either Zerg DK or Protoss Mage. Both decks kill you before you can mill their broken combo pieces. The only thing that has saved me from Zerg DK is Velen. And Protoss Mage is just a joke to play against. Both decks are extremely overplayed and I can only imagine over a 60% win rate. The nerfs can not come soon enough.

I still believe they can’t compete against Wild, unless they are augmented themselves with Wild cards. Choice is power and Wild has the most choice and it’s often very overpowered choice.

At the very least you can immediately beat them on average by copying them, and improving them with Wild cards they don’t have in Standard.

I have seen three or four StarCraft Decks in over 200 Games this Month.

Maybe its a Thing in some MMR Bubbles :man_shrugging:

I feel like people that are denying Starcraft decks are a problem in wild are the same ones pretending these broken mini set combos don’t exist.

Mages doing 16 to 18 damage to face with a single minion while ignoring taunts. DK giving multiple minions the same permanent +2/+2 deathrattle to all their minions and sapping the key tech card needed in order to stop them from excessive board takeover.

Maybe you have a large advantage playing a 40 hp deck but for those of us that choose to play normal 30 hp decks with limited health options there is hardly anything that can be done to stop them.

I play wild exclusively. High diamond/legend. Once you reach diamond it becomes a problem. I want to play the game, but end up closing it our of frustration after 2-3 matches. Every other deck you play is some kind of toxic troll deck. Infinite turn shaman/lock, boar weapon, freeze mage. I dont mind losing, what i hate is being able to do nothing. The game is broke. You can’t just blame the people who create these decks, it’s in the game. Game is toxic, makes you feel cheated more often then not. Time for me to uninstall…good luck.

That’s why I only play Standard for ranking and rewards. Wild is horrible. The worst is having your deck milled.

I got ya. I cant do that because im free to play. I use one deck, just continue to tweak it if theres a card i can upgrade from new expansions. Cant afford to buy a new deck every time the standard switches.

Wild is definitely more cost efficient but yes you’ll continue running into the same stupid god tier deck that always seem to run the meta year after year. Why Druid is allowed to have double the mana crystals I’ll never understand or why Shaman is allowed repeated battlecries. There are a few classes that hold a large advantage over the rest. Devs can’t manage to balance standard though so of course they won’t be able to balance wild play.

My best advice for wild is be patient. Win streaks can happen but so can loss streaks. Some matchups you might as well just concede and move on if its a class you are known to struggle against. I concede to 90% of Priests because they either play that stupid weapon boar deck, some variant of a Reno theft deck, or hyper aggro dead on turn 5 Shadow Priest. There is no point in playing against a degenerate broken class. No point in wasting my time when I can find a new match.
