Folks - anyone have any hints as to how to play the Buddy meta in Battlegrounds? I’m a returning play around 7000 MMR and I’ve never played the Buddy meta before (and I seem to lose 400 or so MMR when these changes occur, at least I did with the quest meta).
I’m particularly curious if any heroes suddenly become much weaker or stronger because their buddies so powerful or weak? Also, does premium on getting a buddy sooner if you win combats really help so that you want to prioiritze early board strength a little more?
For example, is Yogg-sauron better? Spinning the wheel of Yogg-sauron seemed surprisingly powerful in the quest meta and having a buddy that enables it seems potentially powerful.
I really appreciated one player that posted a PSA on the quest meta to focus on high armor or strong early heroes and would appreciate any help folks are willing to give here.
Any hero that can get access to other buddies besides their own is generally good in Buddies meta. Tess being the clear winner amongst them all.

Ooh - that makes sense. Most of the buddies seem over-powered so having more than one seems like a big plus.
I was doing pretty well until buddies dropped, had a really bad streak then recovered. Same place as you - was at 7000-ish, lost about 500MMR and now back to 7000.
Research which hero/buddy combos are good.
There are some Tier S combos and some that are just plain dumpster. Armor doesn’t matter nearly as much as how good your buddy is. If someone has a decent current tier list that would be awesome, I’m relying on HSReplay and some 2 year old lists right now.
Mysterious Stranger is extremely swingy. You can copy his buddies battlecry, giving you multiple copies of your teammates buddy each turn. in a few turns, you get a full board of golden buddies, or you can simply trade em.
Ok - this hasn’t been a disaster so far (I’ve actually gained a few rating points) and the effects of the buddies are starting to show up in HSReplay (free statistics). Of the generally bad heroes, Sneed and Rakanishu seem to the big winners and Trade Prince Gallywix seems to be the worst of the previously decent heroes. Not to say I really like this meta - There are a lot of rather awkward to use buddies (or I haven’t figured them out) and some are pretty lame. It just adds to the overall swinginess in Battlegrounds
