Any game/s has impressed you recently?

I have to admit, after reading KingofHeaven’s review, I immediately bought Arcanum on Steam to play at some point

Yeah, he could easily translate into gaming journalism

Would be curious to have your feedback on it !

Games I loved: Neverwinter Nights 1 (& expansions), Neverwinter Nights 2 (& expansions), Dragon Age: Origins (& expansion)
I didn’t enjoy Dragon Age 2. Sadly, not enough effort or heart was put into that game imo.
But I think you’re asking about the precursors to Neverwinter Nights. I only tried them many years after they were published. Baldur’s Gate 1&2, Icewind Dale series and Planescape: Torment, right? Somehow, they weren’t as good as I wanted or hoped them to be. I really wanted to like them but they were just average imo. I know some people are diehard fans of those games and will probably consider me a heretic for not giving huge praise or whatever but I must be honest.

I hope you enjoy it!! For me, the best part of the game is its replayability. By the time you beat it, you’re itching to restart with a different race, background or skill build.

Yeah I was asking about those, though I did love NWN and Dragon age games too !
Oh, that’s too bad. I’m one of those fans actually, really love Baldurs and Planescape , but I played Baldurs at release. Though for Torment, I only tried it at 2017, but I found the storytelling and the writing amazing.

Anyways, cool to see some peoples that know/liked theses old games :stuck_out_tongue: .

Recently ? Not really , the market is delivering sub-par products for most part .
There’s some decent games that came out but nothing impressive in every aspect.

i’m not a console gamer. I prefer board games.

I like to play slay the spire.

Age of empires 2 DE. Need for speed hot pursuit.

I’ve been thinking about trying Zork. I heard the graphics are breathtaking and the gameplay is genius

Didn’t play it recently but Hollow Knight is definitely THE game that impressed me the most in the last few years. The only gripe I have with it is that it starts out a bit slow - in fact, after my first play session, I put it down for a bit thinking “why are people raving about this game” then after a second session…
O.M.G. I was hooked. I love everything about that game, the design, the atmosphere, the humor, the scaling difficulty, some truly epic fights (Sisters of Battle), feeling like a god after completing the Path of Pain (optional super hardcore platform section reminiscent of Super Meat Boy)…

A few other staples that stood out: Cuphead, Dead Cells, Darkest Dungeon, Divinity Original Sin, Overcooked with my significant other.

My hidden gem award would go to Invisibles Inc.

As for physical board games, Terraforming Mars is incredible (though for not every audience, as one game can take 3h+).

after seeing that Metal Gear Solid will get a remake, it reminded me that …

the Psycho Mantis stage was quite mind blowing at that time… maybe even till now.

Is reaver another word for necromancer?

Anyway in the interest of the topic, finally playing the LotR games Shadow of Mordor n Shadow of War, fun stuff.

Neverwinter Nights 1 played on a persistent world server was better than the core game, 40+ roleplayers in a huge campaign setting, good times! Dragon Age still holds up, but Baldur’s Gate 1&2 not so much, sure they were addictive at the time, I played them and the expansions to death, but unfortunately the rereleased versions didn’t do anything for me, the UI seems clunky and cumbersome compared to modern games.
