Exactly as OP says, the copy activates twice. I am having this issue as well. The dark gift is called Living Nightmare.
My opponent played Ancient of Yore with Living Nightmare. The 2/2 copy had 2 instances of its dormant ability, granting my opponent a total of 3 cards and 15 armor per end of turn.

This also happened to me. Drawing 3 cards at the end of the turn for two turns is not great if you have expensive cards.
