I normal don’t play hunter but Amalgam hunter is very strong deck. I figure play some hunter and I tried Amalgam hunter so it very good deck for the current meta.
As long keep buffing and get early taunt and it become very pain to keep removing.
It’s not a good deck at all. It’s quite a bit worse than autonamaton priest, and priest would rather play zarimi or overheal than autonamaton. It requires you to draw the amalgum in order to buff it. If your opponent kills the thing before you can get a buncha buffs to stick the deck just falls apart. The meta is extremely fast right now and there are quite a few decks that can outpace it. Handbuff paladin, aggro paladin, zarimi priest, pain warlock, evolve shaman, rainbow death knight, rainbow shaman… the list goes on. Amalgum hunter struggles into all of those.
Hunter doesn’t have any good decks right now. It’s the worst placed out of all the classes.
many way to get with new cards and I put 2 in my deck instead one as seen deck if lose one I can still have shuffle in my deck counties. I mean many card easy draw the card early on with rod weapon or beast draw gives 2x1 in your hand.
It still scales slower than the other decks. Pain warlock just puts more stats on board faster. Aggro paladin has better pressure. Evolve shaman not only has a massive blowout turn on 5, but it also wrecks your game plan because transform effects permanently destroy any buffs and turn it into a different minion. What rank are you right now?
The problem with Amalgam hunter is there are currently way too many ways for opponent’s to steal your Amalgam. Yogg being neutral is such a pain that you can’t play that sort of deck. And practically every deck is running it.
Then you have to also deal with Reno and other things like Reska. It’s just a royal pain in the butt.
I was going to mention yogg reska and reno as additional counters but the fact that it gets out aggroed is reason enough to not play it. Amalgum hunter is supposed to be a deck that wants to end the game fairly quickly, but hanbduff paladin makes bigger stuff faster, and other decks go both wide and tall before it gets the amalgum buffed to dangerous levels. I bet reno druid would be able to stall it easily enough with the dragon package to get to yogg and reno though. Amalgum anything is just not what you wanna be doing in the meta right now.
Just something different and fun to play instead of the same boring stuff at the moment.
There’s also a slew of other reasons that Amalgam Hunter is bad as well.
People will debuff it as well. So now you just spent 20 mana worth of spells and stuff to buff it up only for a handbuff paladin to bring it to 1 attack.
Nearly every single class has a way of dealing with it.
This is why Amalgam in DK does a hair better. It doesn’t matter if it gets debuffed or shrunken. You’re only using the Amalgam to spread the DR or your Amalgam has Reska on it so having it die or become small doesn’t matter in the slightest. But you still have to deal with Yogg, Reno and other things.
The Amalgam Hunter deck might be a bit better when Reno and Yogg rotate.
I even use Fishing Rod to put Amalgam back on the board from your deck. I just wish that weapon was a 1/3.
The minute you face a shaman you will basically bottom right the match. Shaman being common on ladder means it’s not the best pick for climbing. It is however a fun and interesting deck to play if that is what you are looking for.
