I thought Altrius (and demon hunter itself) was kind of annoying and OP but then I saw this video today of Kibler and changed my mind. Seems reasonable lol .
Outside of silly Yogg box swings, this might be one of the biggest swing turns Iāve seen lol

I donāt think DH on the whole is broken any more, after the second round of nerfs, but Altruis, and Outcast in general, is absurdly strong compared to pretty much any other mechanic in the game. Itās so easy to trigger, and the rewards are obscenely good (usually drawing cards and maybe even discounting them, or dealing damage with Altruis). This example goes to show how disgusting DHās draw/damage/discount package is, particularly since itās not even really an anomaly. Itās not hard for them to do things like this consistently.

āHmm so what seems to be the problem?ā

One of only two times I have seen Kibler visibly upset at a game on stream. The other time was with Quest Rogue completing their quest and playing it on turn 2 or 3 in a game.

Clearly the 4/2 stats. I guess going back to 3/2 would solve the issue

If Kiblerās salty about something, then you know thereās almost certainly a problem.

I think the problem is more the draw than Altrius. DH has way too good draw that keeps chaining into more. That leads to some other issues too.
Altrius would probably be okay in a different class though I think several classes can abuse him. But I donāt think he should coexist with the current DH draw power. I almost wish he was like a choose one card where you can choose to dmg the board OR the face. Most times, the board damage is more relevant than face damage I think and he locks you out of developing anything else unless you can remove him from hand 1st.

Yep. And this is with Altruis nerfed. The DH clears 8/8 Divine Shield, does 10 damage AND hits for 7 attack.
I saw a similar situation weeks ago where Zeddy had just ācheated outā 2 Winged Guardians and a Evasive Drakonid (using the sidequest), all untargetable, nope all cleared with Altruis.
Tbh, in Kiblerās case, his opponent had the highroll in low cost cards with a reduced Skull of Gulādan and both Twin Slices, but still.

In my opinion the Outcast mechanic is just to easy to trigger. I believe it shouldāve been only from the left side of your hand.
Imagine if Stargazer Lunaās ability wouldāve been triggered by right and left card. That card wouldāve been nerfed so hard, nobody would remember the card by now.
Just as I think the hero power shouldāve been 2 mana, gain 2 attack. It would slow the synergies of DM hunter down to a normal lvl.
And if you make those two structural changes, it wonāt matter so much that the class has (and might gain more in the future) OP cards.
I feel that as long as these two mechanics remain untouched nerfing DH cards is like mopping up the floor without also turning off the faucet.

One of the biggest issues regarding Altruis is that you canāt play around Altruis. You canāt build a board that is resilient to Altruis because it deals damage one at a time. Divine Shield, Deathrattles, and Reborn are all ineffective versus Altruis effect. Thereās no strategy that beats Altruis; you basically just hope they donāt have him or donāt have good activators for his effect.

I“ve been in that situation many times, DH killing your board and your face at the same time and you can“t do sh1t about it. Seems legit.

the amount of dhās this last week is a funny joke it would probably drive any new player away for good even veteransā¦
trying to have fun with spell mage is very very difficult at times.
17 damage to face and fully clear board with 10 damage to every minion (one at the time). Even if you next turn kill Altrius and survive there is always chance of charge that gives ignore for every friendly minion and smacking more damage.

Thinking about it more I think that a good interesting nerf would be to make the effect symmetrical so that it hits everything (except maybe Altrius himself) so that the Dh canāt develop his own board while wiping everything on your side. Or make it so that ALtrius hits himself too. And maybe change his stats in some way in combination of one or the other. Something like that so that it can be used as some kind of board reset or some extra burst but not an āI-Winā combo.
Kind of goes well with his theme too. He is an outcast. Works alone and hates everyone.

Had a similar one where the DH and I were neck and neck in tempo, but I had pulled the 6/8 no magic reborn taunt guy off pharoah cat though and heād already silenced edwin, so I thought this would be tough for him to deal with or at least I wouldnāt get hit for a turn or two.
Nope Altrius burned the card and the reborn effect down in one turn
It just should not hit face. End of story.
Rogue weapon board clear/face damage was fixed, why is Alt allowed?

Altruis the Outcast vs Blade Flurry is allowed the same way as :
- Skull of Gulādan vs Nourish
- Kayn Sunfury vs Leeroy
- Consume Magic vs Purify (lol poor priest. DH gets the card you always wanted)
- Spectral Sight vs Arcane Intellect
- Priestess of Fury vs Augmented Porcupine
DH just got alot of cards that other classes wish they had or were nerfed or Hofāed or rotated out.
Iām thinking DH got all the cards that were created during previous expansion but fell of the table because they were found overpowered.
And now hereās a neat idea, letās give them all to one class and make all the other classes feel bad for not getting that support.
Imagine it could ve been 7x 8/8 taunt divine shields, same, all of them would ve been wiped, s-o any other mi Iona on the board would ve been flies to it, s-o what s The math here, deal 10x damage to all minions(also dealing it one by one îs better), also deal 10 dmg to face, nother 7 damage to face by hitting it with the Hero, and he just built a total of 10/8 on his board, oh and The weapon also, so⦠Wipe board of almost anything, 15+damage to face, board control, single turn, what is that, a twisting nether, almost two pyroblats, and 2x force of natures all The same turn, that would be The eqquivalent, right?

Iāll say the unpopular opinion: Iād rather see this kind of crazy turnaround play with altrius card spam combo than some control deck using just like one or two cards where they rely on RNG highroll to turn things around for them.
Box of yogg is obvious example (and Iām pretty sure many mages hate how their class is so full of RNG)
Iād even rate altrius as less obnoxious as that single DQ Alex just happens to give exact dragons that help turn things around.
Somewhere inbetween the two is a rogue drawing like half a dozen cards and turn things around cuz he got to play them for free.
The way I see this, this is a bed the playerbase laid for themselves.
HS used to be have much less big swing turns. But people complained that it was too ācurvestoneā
So Bliz slowed moved away from curvestone and gave most classes janky late game stuff (most classes, sorry paladins)
So when Bliz decides to add a new class, they have to make this class capable of dealing with the crazy janky late game stuff other classes have gotten. And thus DH is given both the pressure tools to rush people down before late game crazy stuff comes into play, and just in case they did reach late game, DH has their own crazy combo in altrius (and technically nethrandamus too, though thatās usually less useful in the current meta)
DH is not the class HS needs, but the one it deserves.
