About to break rank floor

Every time I’m about to initially break a rank floor I lose 2 or 3 games in a row. It’s rare this doesn’t happen. I’ve been keeping track and it’s gotten ridiculous. And I don’t just lose. I get stomped. I’m not one for “the game is rigged” but this happens so often it makes me wonder.

That’s because the star level right before a rank floor is the most competitive area in that bracket. It’s the championship fight, so to speak.

That is to say, you’re playing other people at that same floor who are also likely the same star as you and it means they’ve been winning.

So you are playing the winners of the winners.

That makes sense. I just couldn’t wrap my head around why I keep losing but if what you say is the case then I’m not so worried about it. Thanks, Schyla.

Also, keep in mind we are all prone to cognitive biases. When you are about to break the rank floor, you are really focused on winning, so if you then get an unlucky streak and get back to, say, Diamond 7; your brain is going to quickly register this frustrating experience. All the other instances where you smoothly went from Diamond 7 to Diamond 5 you are less likely to remember because your brain has evolved to remember negative and/or ‘traumatic’ experiences so you learn from them and avoid them in the future (although in this instance you can’t really avoid this easily). Biology is unkind sometimes.

It’s all good. If I had to guess, I lose my floor final battle way more than 50% of the time. I probably only win that like maybe 30-40% of the first time I get there.

That’s what my experience tells me but it could also be psychological. It feels harder.

I’ve witnessed this more times than I care to admit! Schyla Luck!

You need to shut your brain down and not think about the outcome of the game. Approach it as if your only goal is to play your cards the best way you can.

If it consistently keeps happening just one game away from breaking the rank floor, there is absolutely zero logical explanations for it other than your psychology interfering.

If you break the floor to better fix it.

As I made a thread about it recently if the algo tries to find a “worthy opponent”: then inevitably you will start facing similarly-skilled people anyway and: if you have no star bonuses or streak bonuses or a fluke of luck for a streak then you will be locked at a 50-50 win/loss average by definition.

I still think literal rigging is not out of the question (for a few reasons involving filed patents and that they could do it) but it’s more probable that you’re just locked to a “50-50 with worthy opponents”.

Also those playing 24/7 have a gigantic “advantage”; the “advantage” of going to higher peaks out of mere luck; that’s because even with <50% win rate: a singular win streak can raise rank floor.

So after a couple more losing streaks I destroyed for about 6 games and almost broke through 2 floors.

This game is nuts rofl

Yeah, it’s full of streaks

The biggest challenge is to not tilt when opponents scam-steal a win from you in bizzarre ways

Rest is easy
