About the classic set and disenchanting

Hi,
I’m sure this topic has been discussed before…
I’m a F2P player, I don’t pay for packs unless its mini set’s like Galakrond’s Awakaning, so I wanna make the most out of my cards in terms of dust. I also dont play wild and I don’t think I’ll play classic mode. Is there something holding me back from disenchanting all my classic legendaries? Would love to hear your opinion on the matter

If you’re sure you’ll never play wild or clasic, then you’re probably safe to DE them. It would be impossible for them to go back to it after Core arrives.

There may still be tavern brawls that they’re useful in, but that’s pretty niche.

I’m planning on keeping them, but if you’re really sure about not playing wild or classic then go ahead.

If you only play standard, dust away!

DE is a trap to lose value. What if you really get into that mode later?

My advice, never DE anything that doesn’t grant a full dust refund

To lose value spent, but to gain value desired (i.e. wanted cards as opposed to unwanted cards).

And then if it turns out you wanted them after all down the road you’re doubly screwed.

If we make precautions in life because there’s always the possibility of if, we’re royally screwed altogether, though. Aren’t we?

It’s a poor trade-off no matter how you spin it.

Not really. People do it constantly. I mean people do it both ways constantly and it honestly is a 50/50 in terms of who wins and who loses. It’s just you can’t say it’s worthless either way because you will never know until you decided one way or the other.

Now if he wants to cherry pick which cards as there are some garbage cards that will typically not be changed, go right ahead. I would still suggest leaving some specific cards if he owns them.

My point was that the trade-off, whether a positive or negative, is based upon our personal preference and perception. While I can hold onto cards, for example, that I will almost certainly hold no use for, I could possibly disenchant them for a card I want and can use.

For me, I have decided, for example, that I won’t play wild mode. I gladly disenchant anything that goes beyond standard, and am only slightly considering ever playing classic.

I would disenchant anything non-standard with the exception of legendaries. Common/rare/epic are so easy to replace if you want them later.

I only play Standard and will DE everything as well
Wild is a Priest Hell, Never touching that
Classic is boring , repetitive, outdated.
And the other modes are gimmicky.

I have a guide to help you:

I give each card a 1-5 rating based on keeping in your collection, as well as whether:

  • the card is getting buffed
  • the card is in the Core Set
  • the card is stronger in Classic or not.

If you are short on dust, you can choose to dust most 1 and 2 rated cards.

keeping your cards is equally a trap if you dont play wild.

Or Classic
Or Duels
Or any potential new format using them

People already complained about Duels using your own collection.

By dusting, you make the decision to be standard only, so dont comp[lain if/when a format including those cards is released that you want to play if you dust your cards.

Yep, dont complain though. You made the conscious decision to be STANDARD ONLY!

no one is going to complain, we don’t all live in fear of making mistakes.

Sure thing. Just like no one complained about duels using your own collection after dusting rotated cards… OH WAIT that happened!
