A stolen response to the wild ban

“Dev Comment: Crimson Clergy is a key enabler in a combo deck with play patterns beyond what we want for the format.”

Wtf are the play patterns you are wanting in the format? Turn 2/3 Neptulon? Swordfish dealing 40-50% of your health? Endless secret tutoring and mana cheat that prevents the opponent from playing? Druid forcing slower decks to draw 2 cards a turn and mill?

did you even watch a clip showing what that deck could do ? unlike neptulon it wasnt something you could mess with like wuth a plague of murlocs on neptulon

why not just change the effect so it can only draw 3 cards per turn?

Because its also in standard still
and in standard it sees like zero use pretty much.

Thats why bans for wild are thing, to solve a problem in wild while not effecting the card in stadard.
They if wanted, COULD do seperate balance between wild/standard (classic shows its possible), but thats not something theyre interested in doing, atleast so far.

What combo/deck are they referring to in the “key enabler” statement? Is it some form of bless priest or something in wild?

These devs are absolute dolts when it comes to wild balance.

There’s a priest list that draws the entire deck and otk on like turn two or something. I saw it the other day and was pretty shocked. I didn’t have my tracker running so I missed exactly what happened.

The combo was all from hand and Priests were able to pull their entire deck and kill you on turn 5 and you just had to take it. So yeah, buh bye Crimson.

And I saw another guy do this and kill themselves with fatigue. It was hilarious. Whatever they were doing, they seemed to be testing out their draw ability because the deck had no finisher.

Every time I went up against this deck, my opponent played his entire deck and I sat there for 2 mins waiting for all the animations to finish just so I could see myself Die. Was fun.

It was used to pull off a mind blast OTK using Fizzle and shadow visions. You draw your deck, empty your hand, play Fizzle, pull the snapshot with shadow vision, and go infinite with mind blast. There was another version with arcane giants as well. Both decks could pop off turn 4 or even turn 3 with coin. A key component of both decks was radiant elemental which has somehow escaped nerfs repeatedly.

cant remebver i think its the first time i change the deck and class im playing in wild to avoid one specific combo deck

priests running that deck autoconceded vs mages as soon as i played a secret that deck was unable to play around secrets

At this point I am not surprised by how Blizzard balances (or in most cases) doesn’t balance wild. It’s arbitrary at this point what they choose to allow. It would be fine if there were some alternative between wild and standard since both formats effectively don’t include 90% of the total card pool.

That was honestly the only way for the new cards to be utilised in any format especially the legendary card and that was the first time crimson clergy actually saw play interestingly enough. There were also so many versatile ways to beat this deck easily with a few secrets even just a single neutral mill card that can be put in any wild deck. Don’t even get me started on Druid decks forcing them to draw 5 cards in 1 turn ruining any chance of even trying to pull of that combo. It’s called miracle priest for a reason.

I think this mechanic does introduce a new way to play the game and the devs could definitely utilise this to revitalise the playstyles especially when the early turns are so long when playing with normal decks. Could be like blitz chess but in hearthstone, it really makes for interesting an mechanic that could be added to the game. Or the card could be unbanned since there already are otk decks that need many taunt minions to counter them.

Yup, and I personally think they should use this tool way more often in the interest of maintaining a fun, dynamic metagame… Eternal formats need maintenance too.

What is the cardlist specifically? lol , if I cant get out of bronze with regular play i just might reach silver with this meme. Anyone got a deck code they can provide? help a fella out thats just down on his mmr. lol

2 options:

A card ban

Or

Your spells cost 1 less (no less than 1).

According to the devs, the card ban is the less intrusive option.
