5 Nerfs and 10 bufs.... But we don't know yet?

Lmao it’s not balanced in any way. A 3 mana board clear that affects the whole board in a class that has truckloads of removal it can (re)discover and mana cheat is not balanced.

Hysteria should hit 2 minions at most so that decks that aim to pressure on board can ACTUALLY interact with Priest and play around it without throwing away their whole game plan. Instead of watching the Priest play bloody Solitaire as they do now.

oh …you must be one of those posting as if the meta was completely different !
it isnt the first time i see this there are several decks going by your description of hysteria they should lose the match up

but they win it more than they lose it !

i saw someone say priest was the best class in the pre nerf DH meta so this type of posts doesnt surprise me anymore

Priest’s counter is getting nerfed (Mage). The classes that actually have the means to screw over Priest’s game plan. Paladin and Mage.

The other classes that aim to play on board would need similarly degenerate nonsense in the buff list to even hope to contest Priest. Stuff that ignores board and jams Priest’s face because you simply can’t get on board with how stupidly overtuned Priest’s removal kit is now.

And I don’t even want them to get such buffs. You solve the design space problem by nerfing Priest’s overpowered removal like Hysteria. The class just doesn’t deserve the card as is and it limits decks that play on board to such a hilarious degree it’s unhealthy for the freaking game.

I don’t want to play Bomb Warrior simulator vs Priest mirrors in high legend, thank you. I want to use the board. The key aspect in the game.

looks to its just general dislike for control decks i thought it was just priest going by how much control card bother you

but you must hate priest a lot just going from " The class just doesn’t deserve the card"

I daresay that Control Priest is pretty good at the moment, and would predict that it would be very powerful but not oppressive by any means if its anti-combo and best anti-control tool in the form of Mindrender Illucia would be nerfed again, assuming that Tickatus will be nerfed and therefore Control Warlock’s inexplicably high play rate will collapse.

I was very much hoping Illucia would be addressed in the upcoming patch; but given the limitation of five nerfs, two of which are confirmed to be Neutral, that seems all but impossible. I imagine at least one of the three Class cards to be a Paladin card, likely leaving Tickatus as another and quite possibly a Mage card as the third.

Of course, we will see buffs to ten cards – not an insignificant amount! Even if that includes all the Caravans, which change might have anything from a huge impact to virtually none depending on how they are buffed, that leaves five cards that could potentially allow up to five archetypes to compete in the meta.

I play all decks. Control, tempo, aggro, combo.

I don’t have favorites.

Control deck =/= utterly screwing over anything that tries to play on board. That’s not balanced. Priest however has such an overtuned kit that now it’s at that toxic point. If you’re not Ramp Druid, a deck that gets bent by any aggro, you can say goodbye to any attempts to pressure Priest on board.

This should not be a thing. It’s utterly unhealthy for the game. Do you realize how many decks would like to play on board? How many classes would like to do that? And all of them except for Ramp Druid get devastated by Priest.

its ok for control decks to be able to beat aggro…

I agree.

However, control decks pretty easily beat midrange decks at the moment; with only a few exceptions, this has been the case for years.

On the flip side, over the same time period, aggro decks have been faring better against most non-Priest control decks for some reason.

Yet midrange decks usually don’t do well against aggro, either.

Why is this trend acceptable?

If they nerf tick, they probably should nerf something like palm reading/hysteria (though nerfing hysteria means warlock is in dire need of a card buff) just to prevent the annoying priest meta that results. We had a year of watching paint dry already with Boom (mad genius) control warrior… I love control decks, but win conditionless is painful. No fault of the priest players per se, priest doesn’t have much in terms of win con, but man that’d be a rough meta to play in.

It’s not okay for a control deck to dominate any board based deck except for a niche archetype that gets slapped by those remotely aggressive decks (Ramp Druid). Hyper aggro, Zoo, Midrange, Tempo, even Deathrattle stuff, Priest can build a control deck to deal with utterly freaking all of those.

Priest’s removal is simply overtuned at this point. The class suffocates any decks that use board pressure, that’s unhealthy for the game and encourages playstyles that ignore an entire aspect of the game like Bomb Warrior, Poison Rogue. Those decks crumble to other aggressive decks, while Priest easily destroys them.

To add fuel to the fire modern Priest is also invulnerable to combo because somebody had the “bright” idea to print Illucia.

I wonder which decks are close enough to great to get buffed up to something I’d want to play. Elemental shaman may be almost there. Too much silence around demon hunter in this topic, so maybe buff it? Taunt druid could be fun and good with a buff or two.

They should also buff Annoy-o at least temporarily, so people can more easily get the 1 point achievement by dying to that thing.

I’d also like to add that thanks to hysteria we get more cancerous decks like darkglare. Instead of creating board pressure we now have to result to playing a single 8/8 minion by turn 4 or 5 because anything else gets wiped off the board limiting what playstyles we can use against Priest. If hysteria doesn’t get hit early it will forever be at the top of the nerf discussions all because of the degenerate class Priest has turned into.

top of the nerf discussions ? i ve only seen threads about the card before the first nerfs

and its only being mentioned now right before a nerf patch …by posters i only see complaining about priest

did a search on reddit too and couldnt find anything discussing current hysteria at all

only its mechanics and interactions

A bunch of youtubers and streamers have it on the list of problem cards. Like Rarran said, he still believes it needs touched but it might not happen this coming patch update. The card is on a whole bunch of peoples radar which usually means it will be dealt with sooner than later. I’m sure devs are going to keep a close eye on it if they don’t decide to nerf it this go round. If Mankrik wasn’t a prime target than hysteria would of filled it’s place.

That’s me, i think my liquipedia page stands, been playing since classic 2014, top 3 apac/sea back on leaderboard while being the only sponsored pro in my country, i retired and stopped pro and removed most of my profile and account on 2016, and just play casually on and off and just being a spectator and blog/info/deck tips contributor now

but that is not important, what important is, priest is actually the secret tier 1 deck now at top legend, to a point that priest is favored against deck that should ve give them issue such as weapon rogue in the hands of good player

The lifesteal/healing is overtune to a point that any decks that try to gain board control(such as miracle rogue) and do chip dmg every turn dont matter cause apotheosis, samuro, broom, giant exist, all the early-mid game does not matter and priest always goes back full health. None-stop discovering spells, palm reading making it cheap, 0 mana heal 5, 1 mana heal 3 disover more heal, apotheosis, giant rush. Early game doesnt matter against Priest anymore.

And hysteria, you just lose tempo and floats mana and just overall bad when you try to play against it. Hysteria is just way too powerful for a 3 mana card, not only it removes 2 minion minimum, it sometimes also forces the minion to run into their 10/10 lifesteal, and with broom thats 20 health gain, like you had the board and had lethal next turn and everything just collapse and you might as well concede because Priest card advantage is way infront of you after you spend everything try to kill the Priest.

Lastly is illucia, ok, so like we get the idea that Rush Warrior, Paladin, Miracle Rogue, Face Hunter, any deck that tries to aggro face and uses the board don’t work against Priest, how about combo? Illucia just removes that out of the question, DH and Rogue find their combo pieces or siniste strike/wicked stab etc being removed by Priest forcefully is almost game over, OTK DH illucia throw illgynoth out at turn 8-9, or right after DH skull of guldan, is just game over.

The only way to beat Priest at the moment is Jaraxxus summon free 6/6 every turn and tickatus to make them fatigue first, but Warlock is so bad against the rest of the classes, and even the community wanted Tickatus to be nerfed (like what?), Priest is going to present itself as the best class at legend after the balance patch if they don’t do anything to it, unless there is a bunch of Warlocks who aren’t afraid to lose to every decks out there and just wanna make Priest suffer.

Druid is not reliable against Priest now because Druid will still run out of resources unlike Warlock, the Clown version only has 2 copies of it and Priest can “create soul mirror” against it, the Celestial allignment one sometimes backfire because Palm reading exist and Priest would have a bunch of 0 mana spell. Druid could be better after the balance patch, could be the next Priest killer who knows, but is so unrealiable right now.

Same here. I hope they buff some basic Shaman tools so that buffs for Elemental Shaman aren’t that apparent

I’m cool with a wildfire buff as that was the first deck I tried to build and finally abandoned.
But, I’m a bit worried about spell damage mage, which I love. If We are forced to rely on the version Blizzard is selling then the deck is doomed.

I don’t think that’s the deck’s final form. The build I had that hybridized Spell dmg and Hero Power stuff felt really close to good, and a buff on top of a slightly slowed-down meta in terms of turn 2/3 highrolls a la Crabrider shenanigans would go a long way towards putting it where it needs to be.

ironically tickatus is not the reason why decks outside of aggro suffer.
if anything you playing aggro is the reason lmao. midrange dies to aggro (aggro is naturally favored), control dies to aggro (unless you’re priest), etc.

Agreed. I feel the devs are more likely to nerf Incanter’s Flow to 3 mana in order to slow down the mana cheat in Spell Mage.

I have seen the suggestion to bump Wildfire to 1 mana, which might be enough to put Hero Power Mage into the meta. Wildfire feels kind of clunky at 2 mana tbh.
