Check out these balance changes for Hearthstone and Battlegrounds.
I don’t know where you see any diversity. Sure, aggro, tempo, and midrange are around, but control is practically dead. Midrange is also suffering because Rogue makes up nearly 20% of the meta at high ranks—that’s literally every fifth game. And they have Twilight Mistress. Rogue can swing the board in a single turn without losing their own, completely bypassing taunts and any stats. In the current meta, this is just a cheat AoE. Why doesn’t it work both ways? It’s peak comedy when Rogue’s AoE clears absolutely any card, while Warrior’s AoE can’t even kill that Twilight Mistress. And what about Priest, Warlock, and DK being thrown into the dumpster of history? Does Blizzard really think that’s balanced too? I hope at least the next set fixes this situation
I wouldn’t hold my breath, you will definitely suffocate before anything like that happens. They just make it worse and worse until the metrics say they are losing players, then they sweep it all away into irrelevance and make a new broken meta. Welcome to the last 3 years of HS, because Blizzard loves killing the golden goose.
Twilight mistress is super good dont get me wrong, but there are a lot of occasions when ya dont want to play it, it will trigger a deathrattle ya dont want triggered or give the opponent back a battlecry that far outweighs the advantage of returning it to their hand..
The meta continues to look diverse with no major outliers
This sentence has to be pure satire and is the whole problem.
Setting aside that it’s obviously wrong seeing priests best deck being so far off that it’s clearly and undeniably an outlier which also could easily be fixed.
This only holds true if you look at classes only and that’s pretty… questionable, to keep a moderate tone. If you look at the overall picture of archetype distribution you have one clear outlier. You have smorc in red, green, different green and brown. Such variance, much wow. How can one look at the meta and not see the problem that there is only face decks, one scam deck to hopefully abuse said face decks and else.. nothing. Midrange is on life support, control is lacking entirely, OTK/combo is only meme viable. We have many classes but they all play out the same.
Easy solution: make control a thing again. There is a lot of midrange or even combo potential in the game that is just completely locked out because you can’t win against the various colors of blowout aggro. Leylines and companion Hunter could very well be counters to a potential control deck, but because the latter isn’t even close to existing everything is the same kind of gameplay. Even Rogue needs to be very aggressive and often wins by sending everything face as fast as possible. The buff to the stealth minion makes it even more valuable.
A good meta is a meta with archetype variety, not color variety. New cards can’t thrive if every game is basically decided on the first 3 turns.
It’s crazy how idiotic the players on this game are, this isn’t a balance patch but a patch to sell the miniset of 2 classes (hunter and mage), Blizzard doesn’t care about balance, they nerf or buff to sell their stupid cards.
It’s crazy how short sighted some here are.
Best way to sell is to have a fun and diverse meta. If they want to make the cards from the miniset viable they need to make the decks they counter stronger because no buff to them that could even be somewhat considered decent will achieve the goal of making them playable.
I play for free.
