Tar slick stands out to me as the weird one. It’s a combo enabler for sure, and can really help you with Serrated Bone Knife. It can also turn Beatboxer into an early-game board clear, assuming you don’t send too much at the enemy face. Also hurts your own minions, so be careful with trades!
Kaja’mite Creation is a kind bone to throw at Thief Rogue, who lost all of their good tools at Gryphon’s rotation. This is weaker than School Teacher, which isn’t saying much, because you still have to pay the spell’s cost instead of diverting it to a 1-mana token. Hooray for power de-creeping! And it’s even limited to a class card, not a Neutral minion! I like it, and what it implies for the direction the game is heading when Hydra rotates out.
Gear Shift is similar to Secret Passage, and we all remember who ludicrous that card was. I’d like to think that people will need to use this carefully, since it factors in the position of cards in your hand, but then I remember that Rogue loves playing cards that cost 2 or less and can empty their hand almost at-will. This is nearly a 1-mana “Draw 2 or 3 cards” with no “downside.” Secret Passage was almost always used either as a full mulligan or to generate a full hand from nothing, and this will be the same way.
Rogue is in an awful spot right now, though, so maybe I’m being too harsh. But please remember that Rogue is one cheap Battlecry or Combo minion away from destroying the game at any given time.
Kajamite Creation is a solid Magic Trick that can discover any class on a stick.
Tar Slick is a cheaper activator to the 3 mana neutral effect, except slightly worse because it also affects your minions. Idk how useful that will be.
Gear Shift definitly has its uses, throw 2 bad cards away, and draw 3 new ones. But the problem is if you have to throw away a card you want to do that. The cards in the left most part of your habd are either important finishers, or unplayable generated stuff. I could see this being used though.
Im sure the rest of the rogue cards are part of the larger mech package
I love all 3 of these. They don’t seem OP and they fit Rogue nice. I especially love Gear Shift for some reason. It helps if you accidentally draw your win condition early and you don’t want it to get caught by a Theotar or Dirty Rat. Sometimes Tess is sitting in my left side and I just hate it. Not to mention, if you don’t have 2 cards to shuffle in and your hand is empty, this should be a 3 card draw for 1 but only if it’s in your hand alone. Pretty cool.
Secret Passage was one of the stand-out cards in Rogue until it rotated and I doubt this will be any different. By the time Gear Shift rotates out, Rogue will probably be using it to generate full hands from nothing just like they did with Secret Passage. It’ll probably be a cornerstone of every Rogue deck, even Thief, since it works with a big hand, unlike Secret Passage.
The difference is with this, you ACTUALLY lose cards, and you draw less cards. With secret passage, you could play it will any sized hand and it was 1 mana draw 4. Also I think you are able to draw the cards you just shuffled into the deck, which could cause problems.
Best situation is playing it in an extremely aggro deck where your hand gets empties quickly, and even then its still a worse secret passage (though thats just because secret passage was so busted)
It would be really strong if the sequence was the inverse. First draw and then put the older cards in the deck.
As it is you can’t play it without have atleast 3 cards in hand(counting itself) and run the risk of redraw the cards you put back in the deck making it’s power to actually find what you want far weaker.
