Looks like the priest tax is once again in full effect. Those could all be 1 mana cheaper, and still wouldn’t be any good.

Grace of the Highfather: Overheal support that nobody asked for. An archetype that relies on all its cards comboing of one another will never be good. Also too expensive for the effect, even at 2 mana it would be too weak. 1/5

The Stars Align: Obvious 0/5

Serenity: They must have forgot that they need to powercreep cards for them to be playable. “Shadow Word: Horror” wasn’t played when it released, until “Pint-size Potion” came after. Unless they give us also a “Pint-size Potion” card to combo off of, this will never be played. 0.5/5

Grace of the Highfather is meh. Controlled discover is nice but there are too many neutral cards.

Stars Align is meme

Serenity is pretty insane though, taking off a ton of damage from the board, it gets played right when your opponent starts to go wide

Sorry Priests, but I’m glad that none of these look good. Especially in the survival/removal aspect.

Serenity is the best one here, though. That -2 attack is permanent. Still way worse than Blood Boil or Clean the Scene. An AoE version of Distort, which isn’t played.

Mechanics aside, this confirms Ra-den / Ra as the Priest Keeper. We should see him later today.

Concerning “Grace of the Highfather”: what does “Discover a card” mean in that case?

Do I discover a card from both the priest and neutral pool or is it a card from the pool of all classes and neutrals.

I think that unless otherwise specified, or otherwise impossible (e.g. discovering a secret as a non secret class), discover is only your class + neutrals.

Serenity is shadow word: Horror improved. It’s going to see some play eventually. But it’s not one of the better removal’s we’ve had.

I see, thank you very much.

Oh i love meme cards

Oh i love meme cards

I hate them. Team 5 really has no clue how to design good priest cards. We’ve had 5 sets in a row now that had very weak cards. March of the lich king is the only set I consider worthwhile as an actual set that has a goal and direction. There is no proactivity outside unholy priest, which has fallen off significantly now that hollow hound and relic DH with its infinite removal and lifesteal are everywhere. Burn decks aren’t that good right now and overheal is rubbish and will probably be rubbish for at least another expansion or two until it has a proper card density. That leaves control priest as the only archetype, which is getting boring and old. Barrons style attrition only control priest with no win condition sucks.

All of these cards are a hard pass. But it’s not a total loss. I have a new class and deck I’ll be maining this expansion. I love the FUU unholy death knight package and I’m going to make that work.

As usual, priest can’t have nice things because people would complain. They already have board clears that handle minions with low attack. Getting more discovers or RNG effects does not really help the class. The Stars Align letting minions keep their original cost is nice, but you might get trash minions out of it. Oh well. Priest just gets to keep playing the same stale decks I guess.

You cant discover other class cards. Ever. So its priest/meutral.

I’m gonna call it Bad Boil.

Sure they do. They are cards that give you your opponent’s best cards and win conditions. /eyeroll

Looking at this from the wrong perspective.

I’ve been a Priest player since 2014 and the way I look at it is that priest is a ‘hard’ difficulty class.

Any meta that makes Priest an ‘easy’ difficulty class (in standard) is an abomination. You should be made to work for your wins, to develop a deck that counter punches hard against whatever is dominating the meta at the time.

I get most of my satisfaction out of problem solving. Priest’s gameplay, a majority of the time since 2014 has been ‘problem solving the meta’. The win rate is likely to be low because many people can’t think critically, they copy whatever is currently successful and roll with it - which is difficult to do with Priest (most of the time).

I think part of being the “problem solver” of the meta is you can build to solve one problem. One. Priest flounders at lower tiers because the problems are many and varied and Priest can only build to beat one thing.

I made it to top 200 Legend on the back of breaking into that meta pocket, once. The climb was much harder before I got that high. It’s not necessarily learning but that you run into a lot more things that aren’t what you built to beat.

I haven’t been excited about playing a Priest Legendary since Fractured in Alterac Valley.

Every expansion after it seems to be:
1 Legendary card for the Control Priest archetype. aka removal.
1 Legendary card for an archetype that won’t be supported again.

Priest somehow has become the most stale Class to play. The Keeper had better create another archetype or it will just be a sole Control Priest meta again.

The priest titan is kinda insane though
I actually like the stars align, there are plenty of unusable cards in every class, at least this is a fun card.

I know he is pretty strong. What i meant was that i don’t like the fact that it’s just a Control Titan. No special effects, just removal, value generation, Lifesteal. I expected something more extravagant for the Titan minions.
