27.2 Known Issues

Wild bundle? You’re confused. That is not the caverns of time packs. If you wanted caverns of time cards, you should have bought bundles that included caverns of time packs.

Wild packs do not contain caverns of time cards.

Respectfully, I think you’re wrong.
Official Patch Notes 27.2

“113 Wild cards are getting buffs with Patch 27.2! These are the cards that are being reprinted as part of the Caverns of Time set. If you already have the cards in your collection from their original release, they will be automatically updated with the patch. If you don’t already have the cards, you can still get them through all current means, or from Caverns of Time packs once the set goes live.”

Wild Card Packs are “current means” and with the expansion being direct-to-wild, wild packs should produce Caverns of Time cards, much like standard card packs produce the latest expansion’s cards on expansion launch days and beyond.

Moreover, in the Dedicated Caverns of Time Blog, it states,

“Duplicate protection applies to both the original version and the Caverns of Time version of all 113 reprinted cards. That means that if you already have these cards from the original set that they appeared in, you won’t open them again in Caverns of Time packs until you have all cards of a given rarity from the Caverns of Time set – meaning that players who already have the reprinted cards will be able to get all the new cards even faster!”

I see your point. I think caverns of time cards should be attainable in wild packs.

I think they imagined everyone would try to get the new cards by buying caverns of time packs, since it would be the fastest way to get them.

I don’t think they implemented them to be attainable in just the normal wild packs.

Something is still wrong with Caverns of Time packs, even taking rarities into account. For example, I opened Hooded Acolyte, a card I already had 2 copies of. When I search for that card under the Wild filter, I see the 2 copies I already owned. When I search for the “NEW!” version I opened in Caverns of Time cards, it isn’t there.

So I’m opening duplicates that I can’t even dust because they disappear in the collection manager, if they were credited to my collection at all.

Note that Celestalon has acknowledged in this Reddit thread that Caverns of Time duplicate protection for golden cards is not working the same way as it does for non-goldens:

If you only own one copy of the updated cards from a previos expac, it also does not appear on the collection manager if you own more that one copy of the reprint. Please look into this

Also I want to clarify if Searching the word “extra” is supposed to pull up duplicates of card you already own that you now have new copies of, because it doesn’t for me

Still having the same issue as well

Before all this happened I had assumed that the reprints would work exactly like Classic used to, where if you had the Classic card you would automatically see the same card mirrored in Legacy. It might look different depending on where you looked at it, but it was really the same card rather than “technically different cards.” They may say the way they’ve done it this time isn’t a bug but they should change it anyway because it makes no sense.

There’s also an issue with using wild deck codes, converting them to twist then having to remove missing cards to add your new Caverns of time cards. Can definitely create confusion and give the elusion that you’re missing cards when you’re not.

Hi,

Just wanted to drop in and report my packs of Caverns of Time were also affected. I opened a support ticket but was rerouted to this place and told to post here. So thank you in advance for investigating.

Dupe protection did not work for me. Opened a few packs then looked at both filters for ‘missing common’ and ‘missing rare’.

Example:
For ‘missing common’ it showed as around 15 missing with some weirdness with some cards, thought “OK I’ll open 4 more packs to get the rest”. After opening those packs I go back to check again and sure enough I’m still missing the exact same cards.

Sword Eater is playable on twist when it shouldn’t be.

I believe the duplicate protection worked and here is why:

I have an almost complete collection, i.e. all non-golden and golden cards - that means standard + wild.

I opened 161 normal wild packs and 263 golden wild packs, as well as 40 cavern of time packs and 22 golden tavern of time packs.
In all wild packs (no matter if normal or golden) there was also the possibility to get cavern of time cards - even signature cards.

The only technical error that happened is that the collection manager doesn’t show all the cards when you specifically search for them.

This means if the card is in the legacy/wild set then the Caverns of Time card will not be shown.

What ultimately only annoys you and what I find incredibly outrageous is that you have to collect ALL the caverns of time cards again, even if you already have the normal or gold variant in wild format beforehand.

SO YOU HAVE TO PAY DOUBLE THE PRICE FOR ALL THE REPRINTED CARDS BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO COLLECT THEM TWICE!

Blizzard could compensate for it like this:

  • for future packs: if you already have the legacy/wild card, you will automatically receive the reprint
  • for those who have already opened packs: dust refund for all reprints that have been opened

TLDR: if you open wild packs and you don’t have a reprinted card yet, then you can either get the “old” card or the cavern of times reprint version of it. This is not recognizable when opening the pack and due to the current incorrect display of the collection manager, it then seems as if the duplicate protection would not work.
You have to collect and pay for reprints twice, once for the legacy/wild version and once for the cavern of times reprint.

I totally agree. Their own blog states that you shouldn’t open duplicate Cavern of Time copies that you already own in wild until you have all cards of that rarity. This was not the case and I wasted dozens of packs and have 3 actual newly-printed cards to show for it.

SO basically Caverns of Time launch has been a total S**T show.

Poorly executed.

There are some brand new cards that are apart of this set that I can’t even craft because the set does not even show up in the list of sets to select from.

Omen’s Golden Hero power’s art isn’t animated in game and in deck selection screen before game. I don’t know about regular Hero power because I have 500+ wins on Demon Hunter. It may have something to do with swapped golden border and regular border at his release (if you had less than 500 wins you had golden border, and if you had 500+ wins you had normal border) that was fixed later but it bugged his hero power art imo.

This has happened to me after opening approx 150packs.

I feel like I have been ripped off severely.

Utterly disappointed.

some of the new legendaries from caverns of time have no play music (and when i tried crafting them it didnt have music either). i feel like its kinda lame to play a legendary minion and have no cool music

it at very least is the case for Runi and Al’Akir, idk if any other legendaries are affected

please fix :frowning:

Anything about the core set cards being allowed in twist mode, whereas the official announcement explicitely says that core is not part of the legal twist set ?

That means the legal sets will be:

  • Legacy (not Core or Classic)
  • […]

This allows cards like Sword eater, Candleshot, Dog Biscuit, Kiri/Solar/Lunar Eclipse… to be played in the mode even though they come from expansions introduced after Gadgetzan

[Battlegrounds] in “Big League”, I discovery “Seaborn Summoner”, probably from “Reef Explorer” or " The Rat King’s Heropower for Elemental (because Naga banned)"
