First, let me start by saying that I’m extremely happy they finally decided to add new rewards past golden heroes. I am very excited for these.
The only problem I have is that 1000 wins isn’t enough, we need multiple tiers past golden heroes. 1000, 1500, 2000, etc.
Why ? Because lots of players already have 1000 wins on multiple classes, if not on all of them (including myself) so this update really doesn’t give them anything new to do.
I suggest new tiers to be platinum boarders at 1500 wins and then diamond boarders at 2000 wins. If not, perhaps a new hero power animation or hero entrance.
Also the main problem I have with these skins being the only rewards past 500 wins is that it kinda makes the other pre-order skins a lot less valuable.
What I mean by that is why would I use any other skin over the 1000 wins portraits ? Obviously these are the most prestigious ones and thus the ones I want to use the most. So by using any other skin, you just look like an average golden hero with no signs of your progression, which sucks and that’s why I want multiple tiers.
Yea 1k was a misfire.
Again, all the devs had to do was ask the community instead of assuming they know what we want.
Its like dev 101, and they seriously never look at the community as a co developer / resource, by asking before implementing, instead they just do and basically treat us like wallet/purse/manpurse/money clip / CC etc.
Can’t we be involved devs? Can we?
Or are we just left to take it or leave it, ‘it’ being the choice you made without us.
You could of asked, and probably heard a lot of 2k, 3k or so wins.
but you didn’t, and now it’s at 1k, which many people already have on their main that’s for sure.
I don’t play hs like I used to and I just hit 4k on hunter, with no intention of playing like suuuuuuper predictable decklist classes such as priest or warlock in wild.
I think a much better solution would be to look at
“win type”
Was is meta, or not?
Its not that hard to ID a deck’s core, is it using the meta package or not?
Why reward those who play meta? when they already are rewarded with the strongest deck for that class which is synonymous with meta.
Shouldn’t you reward those who choose the harder and more fresh path of playing unexpected cards?
Should be “1k not-meta wins” not “1k googled deck wins”.
or, if you must further reward meta wins, at least make it like 2k so its still a goal to achieve instead of in the rearview.
reward not meta
ask the community before deciding on that number
think of us as co devs / a resource instead of just-a-customer.
thanks
This is why I, personally, am glad the devs don’t get the community involved more. Because some people in the community have some very weird hangups about what is OK to reward and what isn’t.
Sure, more community involvement would be awesome in the general sense… but once you get down to specifics, there’s a lot of very bad ideas being suggested. Like this one.
1k wins is a good target for the majority of community. I play a lot of Hearthstone; legend every month for 21 straight month. I still am missing 500 wins for 3 classes, and would only have 1k wins for 2 classes.
I feel like you’re the one disrespecting players who play ranked to win. You devaluate the amount of wins they have because they’re playing meta decks.
In any case, a win in a competitive environment is worth the most IMO, which is why I don’t like your suggestion at all.
Why would you ever want to force people to use bad decks in order to gain rewards ? And then if everybody used off-meta decks to gain these rewards, wouldn’t one of those off-meta decks become very popular and become a meta deck itself ?
Let’s say beast hunter is off-meta in standard and highlander is. Playing beast hunter would grant you off-meta wins and highlander wouldn’t. So suddenly everybody would switch to beast hunter because it’s off-meta and grant you off-meta wins and obviously people would play that for the rewards, portraits or whatever they create. But then wouldn’t that make beast hunter meta and highlander off-meta because of the sheer amount of times the decks are played ?
I’d like to hear your solution because I have no idea how that could ever work.
ya bee ur actually right
sorry for being overly sensistive above…it happens.
so encouraging not meta, like your example w beast hunter, with a reward would not be a good idea. im out of time for a bit, but its too much to conceptualize and think about all the angles on this one. be back later
balance is a way beter way to encourage not meta, than a reward I think.
such as balancing a classes weak draw/recruit cards.
I am sure blizzard knows how many players have past 1000 wins for all classes. Probably less than 1% of the player pool. I don’t have the numbers but i believe blizzard know what they are working with. To create reward tiers for such a small group of players is not economical from a company perspective for sure.
Perhaps since they are already at the 1,000 mark. Feels like a decent idea. Still if they have resources, i rather more concrete stuffs (like those in one of your thread) such as guilds etc that can spice up the gameplay more compared to cosmetics.
that’s debatable, getting 1k wins on all classes at rank 20 and conceding to remain at rank 20 for an easier farming doesn’t have more merit than a simple legend
Even if you were to concede all the time to stay at r20 and farm wins, getting all classes to 1000 this way would take much more time than just reaching Legend, which can be done in under 100 games.
You’d still be losing games so that would require 10 000+ games vs your 100 for Legend. And there are those who aren’t farming wins at low ranks with 1000+ wins.
The point is, the card backs we have right now for achievements are a joke. We have Legend and heroic card backs. The only one worthy is Golden Celebration, which is only a dream card back that only 0.001% of the players have.
I think adding new card backs for achievements such as 1000 wins on all classes is definitely a good idea.
This, and offering extra content to higher tiers players to encourage competitive mind-set to players (something HS is significant lacking even though it calls itself as an e-sport).
For example: Only platinum players can buy packs/adventures with gold, everything else must pay cash. Or Diamond players would have 10% discount on packs price, and getting Diamond is one of the requirement to tournaments.
Yeah I know, but it sucks losing your only way of showing your achievement to others.
Why can’t you have a way to demonstrate your 1000 wins achievement even when you’re playing with other skins ? You get what I mean right ?
IMO one of the coolest things in video games is the ability to show your achievements to others with some kind of cosmetic, aka GOLDEN heroes and these new skins. Now if you want to flex you’re forced to use the new skins, it would be much better with new frames past gold, that way you can showoff while using any skin in the game.
