I know this is a value card but why 1 mana – sure They should get a discount for playing a card that doesn’t do anything on the turn it’s used for tempo later but 1 mana is just too much. The combos are just insane – they get the best cards from the opposing class basically for free AND it enables so many of their combo cards so easily. Spend 4 mana to get 10 cards reduced by 4 mana is a much more in line card. As it stands it’s spend 4 mana get potentially 100 mana worth of cards for 10 mana.
The cards are random and you still have to draw them after spending 4 mana doing absolutely nothing. The highroll potential is there but the card would be worthless without it.
At the very most you are getting 100 mana worth of cards which you have to draw and also pay 14 mana in total. On average the cost of a class card is around 3.5 mana so you usually get around 35 mana worth of cards for 14 mana and you also have to draw them. And even in the best case scenario which will basically never happen it still sounds pretty tame compared to something like Oakheart cheating out like 50 mana worth of stuff for 9 mana directly to the board for example, or Warlock DK summoning 30-40 mana worth of demons directly to the board with some of them also having charge.
I do agree with you with mostly everything you said, however, I do believe that this next expansion it is going to be espionage rogue, espionage rogue, espionage rogue and we will eventually see this card nerfed. I say sooner rather than later.
They will self destruct. They work simply because of cutless. If not they are too slow and inconsistent to do anything. Play an agro rogue deck and they become totally defenseless. Or 2 acidic swamp
Also Valeera’s role is, I think, underappreciated for making this deck work. It stalls, and is often crucial to double buffing the cutlasses.
Let’s complain about a Rogue Tier 4 deck when Rogue Pirates is Tier 2 in multiple iterations and keeping the two super star build around cards (Raiding Party and Hooktusk) plus the cards that support them.
People in this forum will always complain about anti control, even in its most memey iterations before they complain about good aggro decks.
Correction people complain about anything they lose a single game to.
Not even that.
Fixed it
I think people complain about AE rogue (as oppose other tier 4 decks) is that losing to it feels worse.
AE rogue using a lot of mechanics that, when done in excess, is very annoying/salt inducing
-RNG on what it adds
-more RNG on what you draw in what order
-EVEN MORE RNG if you have Tess and/or DK
-another point to Valeera is that her battlecry is similar to the old ice block stall
-another point to Tess is that her battlecry could be huge like yogg was, capable of flipping games even if you’ve been on top of things all game (yes yes, should be trying to blow up the rogue before that point, but then leads to the next point)
-a near infinite weapon that both kills and heals if the rogue gets cutlass going, becoming like pre-nerf kingsbane
-a lot of builds involve running a lot of draw (so you can get your AE and then draw those 1 mana cards), giving it the same feeling as some OTK decks that aggressive draw
AE rogue basically combines everything that could invoke salt and frustration into one deck. Doesn’t matter if it doesn’t win a lot, it’s still frustrating.
And it appears they’re continue to support thief rogue next expansion. It remains to be seen how the deck will perform, and whether rotating out valeera and some draw via minstrel would tone down the annoying aspects of the deck.
But they still get rocked by aggro, even in the upcoming rotation.
I love it when people cry about rogues.
by far the most broken card ive ever seen. well except for mechathun. its so hilarious that these cards actually exist. ill play this trash once in a while but i never have and absolutely never would spend a penny on this rigged slot machine.
The Cutlass is the thing that is busted, yet people keep QQ’in about AI. Tsk tsk.
