Someone please explain to me what is the point of making the double drops into a 24h buff that diminishes when the player is offline.
Last time it wasn’t a buff and the doubled rewards lasted the full duration of the event.
Before that it was the Goblin buff which was limited to 24h, except the duration stopped when you logged out, which effectively allowed you to make it last for the event’s full duration through clever time management.
This one is essentially giving us doubled drops for two days at best instead of the announced week. That’s 24 normal gems and some legendary gear with a 1000000000:1 probability of being useful.
If it was meant to work like this, I really don’t see a point for it in the first place.
Second that thought entirely.
The idiocy of the whole idea… the selling point of the event for customers/players and the amount of extra gold income for the company would be a very tender issue for players… not just me…
Whats the headline of the entire patch notes news flash on battle-net?
Edit. for clarity.
“Regale in the Winds of Fortune”
End Edit.
Really… we click a button… and the buff expires while NO ONE are playing?
Where are those rewards… you want US to collect?
You are a gaming company… You want customers to play games? Your games?
Don’t make money from us, with false commercial headlines… that not serves the community ONE bit.
Real time info in a patch notes in a sentence?
NO info in-game… “Dont log out if you want rewards after clicking this button” make it simple for ppl.
I’ve played your games pretty much nonstop for the last 20 years… 16-24 hrs/day… doing 8 alts in Diablo Immortal could be fun…
IF - we have a chance in INFERNO to actually play the game, accoordingly - with a game-time buff.
Lets take it again in slowmotion… GAME-time buff… you can take your real-time-game-time-buff misstake and OWN it!
There actually is info in game. AFTER you turn the buff on, there’s an “i” icon next to it, which pops up a description that doesn’t entirely fit to screen: “The buff duration is still active while you”
I assume people need an ultrawide monitor to properly play a F2P game.
Thanks for the response and notice, always appreciated with communication, sound one… so I beg pardon for the tone in mine.
But this is more than a misstake.
Shame on those that didn’t make it proper in the first place.
The ideas to get it done the way it should be are all there.
You’ll get it right
Not sure I’m or players are around when you do.
20+ years anniversery… and still… for shame.
A clansmate informed me that when activating the buff, there’s a popup that literally says it will be active WHILE ONLINE. I didn’t notice that at first.
So, it even says in game that it should work like that, while at the same time there’s a note saying that it won’t (but most people can’t see all of it).
Someone screwed up. Again.
It’s just an additional reward.
If they decided to only give that much, I just receive what they give. There’s no right answer to how much rewards are appropriate.
It’s just a shame that they didn’t properly apply the true meaning of ‘double’.
It is precisely a double of the acquisition rate, not a double of the acquisition amount.
People complained about China’s double event, 66day, so they seem to have introduced a similar monthly event.
Well it is double amount for daily gems in the least.
Either way, the issue here is that there’s an announced duration for the event, but after you activate the corresponding buff, you find out it’s not true.
24 hours of doubled drops is not the same as 24 hours across 7 days of doubled drops, let alone full 7 days of doubled drops.
It’s no different from what they announced.
They mentioned ‘real time’ in the update note this time.
That is, time in the real world.
The wording in the Korean update note is more accurate. The staff at Blizzard Korea translated ‘real time’ as ‘현실 시간’. (The pronunciation is 현 hyeon 실 sil 시 si 간 gan ) In Korean, ‘현실’ means reality, real-life, and ‘시간’ means time.
I didn’t know exactly what ‘real time’ in the English update note meant, but after seeing the Korean update note, I knew they had already announced the exact time in advance.
They have been changing the definition of the event so stingy through several trials and errors (repeating several winds of fortune events).
If they define ‘24 hours’ and ‘double’ like that, then that’s it.
And we get what we don’t have originally.
In the case of China, it’s only for one day. 6th of every month, 3:00 am ~ 7th, 3:00 am
We used to envy China, but the thought that ‘in fact, China’s 66-day double event may be a stingy event, too’ comes to my mind.
At first, I thought the same way and raised an objection as you (there was a conversation between you and me in the past winds of fortune post),
But I changed my thought to that ‘the rewards are not that big and they’re free, then let’s just receive them’.
Reason for raising an objection in the past : Because they didn’t do like this in the 2nd anniversary goblin event, which was the beginning of this event.
But they have been constantly refining this event to suit their own interests.
Greed have a new name… but as mentioned earlier… after you activated the buff. And not everyone are treated equal in any case… small windows of opportunity are not made to regale… but commpanys are happy to flourish.
The last time they had this event running, the buff stopped while you were offline. What happened? People cut their daily play time to save the buff and double their daily party gems for a week.
So the old event effectively made people reduce their time playing DI, which is the complete opposite of the intention behind making the event. Major design fail. So now they tried this method instead where the buff last only 24 of real time, which is again a major fail because you end up just wasting the buff, and people are rightfully angry…
The correct way to do it would have been to have double drops for the whole week of the event, but put a DAILY cap for things like normal gems and legendary equipment. This would be incentive to log in every day and play until you get all your double drops.
As I said in the original post, that’s exactly how it worked last time except legendary drops had a weekly cap that most people reached in the first couple of days.
Apart from that, I agree with you that the first (Goblins) and the current version of the event do the exact opposite of what the developers should aim for; they make people play less instead of more.
I activated the buff and played the event yesterday and today, and I like this method. The time is limited to only one day, but there is no cap on the bonus, so it was more profitable to me than the previous methods.
