Hello Everybody!
Today, we want to give you a peek behind the curtain, and talk to you about our approach to updating the highly competitive Battlegrounds game mode, and how you’ll be able to help make it the best that it can be.
We are currently working on a number of updates to Battlegrounds, including an update to Gameplay objectives, Mechanics, and something many of you have been asking for… a brand new map!
Battlegrounds is a very important mode to many of you, and we know this. So we want to take our time to make sure that we’re releasing something that players will be excited about. We’re not quite ready to release it yet or share too many details, but wanted to let you know how we plan to test it, and how it will initially be playable for you all.
In early February, we plan to run a small playtest with some pre-selected players. Unfortunately, we are not going to be able to take any applications for this test, though we appreciate that many of you would be willing to give us a hand by testing the map with us.
We will use this first round of feedback to address any major pain points or outliers before our next step, a public trial release.
With the launch of v3.3 in late March, we plan to introduce the new map in rotation with the existing map, for a duration of approximately 2 months, before potentially being taken down for retooling.
During that time period, we want to hear from you! We want to get your thoughts on if the new Map is an improvement over the last Map. Our intention is to eventually move to the new Map either permanently, or make it regularly available, but we don’t want to do that until we know that this is a better experience for our players.
Of course, in a live-game environment, timelines are always subject to change, and we hope to release more information on the new and improved Battlegrounds as we get closer to the release.
See you in Hell,
The Diablo Immortal Team
