Hello, I have just upgraded a saleable Roiling Consequence from 2/5 to 4/5.
So far so good. Now it is no longer for sale. Was that written somewhere?
I think it’s a real shame as I can’t use it and now the 8 pieces of jade are gone as well as the possible platinum.

Not in the patch notes, no.
Not in-game before you did the upgrade, no.
But there were threads on the forums from people that did such an upgrade and warned others that the result would become bound.
This absolutely should have had an in-game warning prior to doing the upgrade.

Agreed.
However, people should also use common sense too. If the gems didn’t become bound, people could sell the upgraded gems for much higher price than they were originally worth. That’s obviously something Blizzard doesn’t want.
What Blizzard wants to achieve with the event is clear to me, but just as unrealistic as the upgrade from 4 to 5 stars (utopian costs) is that they don’t try to make something out of the few opportunities to generate platinum. In the end, both stimulate the market, don’t they?
In any case, a reference to this would have been necessary from my point of view.
Tbh honest you made a good deal as the 7 jade would be turned into 3500 plat while the difference between a 2/5 and 4/5 roiling is 100k+ plat at least. Unless you already have a 4/5 or better roiling of course.
Anyway blizz doesn’t help with anything in-game related issues, the customer support is pretty much non-existent outside china and they most likely don’t even care as you can see with all the mistranslations (in-game too) and missing infos in patch notes.
Thats the point. I’ve already have 4/5 roiling. I would have polished up another gemstone if I hadn’t wanted to sell this one.
