As each season repeats, the same pattern of matches is repeated dozens or hundreds of times, so people are increasingly not playing.
The structure of the game is simple, so it gets boring easily.
Since there are few participants, it is difficult to make a match, and since it is difficult to make a match, the number of people decreases. It is a vicious cycle.
Starting this season, if there are no people(if the match is not made for 3~4 minutes?), it seems that it will connect bots even if we don’t lose 4 times… Is it because my tier is low? As I am writing this, I am playing, I am only being connected to bots. (14 bot matches of 16 matches. it is continuing)
As a user who has always achieved 3000 points, It’s a pity.
(addition)
It is a failed content. Maybe because it is now the korean Thanksgiving holiday, but I am only playing being connected with bots that end the match before getting 30 kills. Even though I am a Demon Hunter which has a large pool of users.
I think tier and bot matching are unrelated. I am currently Silver 3
When I got matches, my opponents were no more than four paragon less than me. I didn’t see any opponents with higher paragon than my hero. I guess if finding a similar paragon level opponent is one of the matchmaking criteria, the lower your paragon, the less potential opponents there might be so it’ll eventually give an AI opponent?
When this event comes up now, I only play until I’ve completed the event tasks, i.e. no more than 20 matches. Quite simply, the rewards for reaching Legend are not worth the amount of time / matches it would take to obtain the rank, so I no longer bother. I finished with Bronze III / 65% win-rate.
I don’t think level and matching are related.
(For reference, I’m currently at lvl 445 today. When I say tier I don’t mean Paragon level, I mean things like Bronze, Silver, Gold, Legend.)
There are just few participants.
Also, since the matching algorithm changed this season to match us with bots more often, it may have become rarer to see human.
Did dev. make bots match us more often because of my previous post?
I’m a greedy player. Since the dev. team makes it easy to match us with bots, I think it will be no problem to reach legend tier this season, too, if I invest a total of 6~7 hours while playing the field hunting.
It’s pointless work, it’s just for getting all rewards.
I play the event just for pass time after I’ve done with all dailies.
I encounter fighting with botters a lot (my Paragon is 420), a few players with paragon range from 425 to 450. My rank is Silver 2 with 88% win rate.
It takes a long time to connect with a bot. It seems like the algorithm connects us to a bot if we are not matched with a human for a certain period of time. If we are only matched with a bot, it takes about 6~7 hours to reach the legend tier, similar to before. It seems like the time it takes to match with a bot is designed considering the previous usual time investment.
Hi I found this thread after getting matched up with bots 7 times out of 8 matches. 100% win rate. They are easy to spot as they aren’t in a clan and they are extremely weak. I only have 300 kills totals so at that pace I would need 70-80 matches to comlete all objectives and the 240 kill streak is impossible to do.
What are you guys doing while waiting after all your bounties are done?
I was also worried about how I would get 240 streaks if I only connected to bots, but not all matches were against bots. I worked hard to kill monsters when I played against humans. So I completed all the event rewards. (on my memory, 7 human matches / total 100 matches)
The waiting you mentioned is the waiting for the Trial of the Hordes match, right?
I usually do field hunting. But this season, when bots are matched every 4-5 minutes, I do other things in the real world and play TotH. 4-5 minutes is too long. When the match starts, I press the arrow keys a few times to avoid the warning that I will be disadvantaged if I don’t move, and do other things in the real world. Through this way, now I’m at 3600 points without even realizing it.
Have you notice when you up against bots, you will get high winning points (50~90 points), my win streak is 22 in a row lol. I matched with same bot almost 2 hours. I stopped after I hit Legend, I got enough of this dumb event. Also, no way to get 240 kill streak, highest I got is 210 (my opponent usually died before that).
You are correct and indeed its somewhat broken. Personally, they should have just made it like an arena match instead of the type of gameplay that we are presented with. I am not surprised. I also understand that they wanted to do something different with that gameplay mechanic which is in my opinion not enjoyed by most, which is why it dwindles in participation.
I actually enjoy the mechanic of it, it’s just that I find the time / number of matches needed to get to Legend just isn’t warranted for the rewards it offers. I suspect the reason less players are engaging with it might be for the same reason, i.e. they’re only willing to play it enough for the event tasks which grant rewards / BP points and not because they find it fun enough to play for hours.
It’s easy to play while doing other things in the real world. (When you don’t play the game intensively) The bot’s skill is not good enough for us to not need to care about the game at all.
I played it like fishing in bliefen. I also left my smartphone almost unattended when fishing.
The bots give 50 points below 2000 points and 25 points above 2000 points.
They don’t give critical points (the points like 99).
Humans sometimes give 99 points.
(Additional comments on the main text to Dev.)
The biggest problem with this content is that it’s a 1v1 match.
The game is fun when there are variables that we can’t expect. 1v1 has fewer variables than 4v4 or 8v8.
I also enjoyed this content at first.
If the same pattern is repeated countless times, it’s bound to get boring.
Even if the opponent changes, the pattern doesn’t change that much.
The trial of plunder (a TotH with goblins + easier difficulty) during the 2nd anniversary event was terrible. It was so easy that everyone went all the way and didn’t have distinction ability between good and bad players. Another problem was that 5/24~5/31 TotH, 6/6~6/13 Trial of Plunder, 6/21~6/28 TotH. It was a terrible and hard period.
This content is disqualified as a regular weekly content like Conqueror or Alley of Blood. Since the repetition of patterns which have no variables is too severe, this event should be designed so that it can be enjoyed more irregularly and lightly.
Rewards are not the answer. If the rewards increase, people will participate more than now. However, many people will unwillingly do it just for the rewards. It might be fun for the first one or two matches. The problem is the repetition of the same pattern.
Speaking of the change in matching algorithm this season (high bot matching rate), give all the TotH rewards for free at once rather. Why do you(dev.) make so many people mechanically play with bots? I achieved 3600 points through bot matching, but imagine that users all over the world are playing the same like me at their home.
Sometimes it’s better to throw away content than to try to bring it to life. Throw it away and focus to polish up the existing content to make it more fun.
Throw it away like challenge of the immortal (Do you guys remember? ancient content) or howler hunt (content like among us from last February).
Yeah I kept playing and eventually got matched with the same player again and again and got to complete the objectives. It just sucks because when that happens you usually get a long streak of victories or defeats…
I agree that the format as it is now is boring. Making it a team event could be a good idea. If I can add to the suggestions, maybe something like cyrangar endless defense but 4v4 or make special attacks to disadvantage the other team. For example, making destructible items with high hit points and when you focus your damage on them, they make you slower at killing the enemies but once the item is destroyed the enemy team gets a disadvantage like reduced life or damage.
In addition to all the flaws of the mode that keep getting worse every time, I just noticed that in the current iteration the kill counter does not correspond with my killstreaks, going up around 20% slower, i.e. I have 100+ killstreak while only still counting for 75-80 kills. No wonder I can’t win on kills whenever matched against a real player.
For some reason, in this patch, it took me an average of 10 minutes to find a single match, and it was on Day 1. I even got my clan mate with the same class as mine to queue, and the queue still took 10 minutes.
On the odd occasion I get a human, it’s within 2 minutes, however that only happened in 5/20 matches.
Bot match usually after 5 minutes of waiting. They could really lower the threshold for that.
