Trash items from Terror Rift chest

After gathering 200 moments of time wasted, I defeat the boss, loot the chest and… 3 legendary items of lesser quality than what I’m already wearing.

I can already tell this is going to be like the early days of weapon inscriptions when everybody was complaining about them not dropping.

This isn’t the strongest loot in the game. This is vendor trash that I’ll have to go out of my way to sell.

Given that the event has a time limit you need to be handing out better loot like candy for the brief time that it’s open. A
Guaranteed item is appropriate or nobody is going to bother.

This is going to be content I’ll be skipping until drop rates improve. The return on time and effort invested just isn’t there

3 legendaries? Dude, you were super lucky then.

I just managed my 2nd full clear run (yes, I’m crazy), got 1 Terror essence each, and one legendary from the 8th boss chest.

So yes, Terror rifts are a complete waste of time so far.

I did three Terror Rifts yesterday. I got three lots of 200 stuff to open the spires in each of them. So, that’s 9 loot chests. Didn’t get a single legendary. I did, however, get a Terror Essence. I used that to open an open-world spire thing. Waves of tough mobs, followed by a boss with around 21.5 million HP. And then the loot chest opened to reveal…

  • 2 blue items
  • 1 yellow item

This is farcical. The spire chest inside the Terror Rift should be a guaranteed legendary drop, as should the Terror Spire, especially considering how low the drop rate is for Terror Essence.

I’ve had two of the new item types drop since the patch, whilst playing on INF6, so they were both INF6 level items. They had worse CR and affixes than the INF5 gear I already have on.

As it currently stands, this content isn’t respectful of the player’s time investment.

The drop rates need to be vastly improved, or people will ignore this after a week.

I’m already ignoring them. Not just low drop rates:

  1. Its now choosing between 3 different types of primary gear - Cursed, ancestral and now this.
  2. As others stated, the occasional rare drop doesn’t mean a drop we can use (low stats and other reasons)
  3. Class specific - Change class and they become useless
  4. Skill specific - You may not be using the skill that its boosting.

It’s similar to trying to get gear with matching curses on it, except that there’s no equivalent of curse purifying. If there was some sort of consumable that let you gamble for other affixes from your class pool, that might mitigate it. As it stands, there’s just too many levels of RNG involved to even try to get 4 pieces with the same class affix on.

The game was enough with decent enough mechanics, they keep trying to introduce more to “keep us engaged” but are just screwing it up, making it unnecessarily complex.

Not just terror rift also Oblivion Pillars, you use a load of time to try and get an terror essens and when you then go for an oblivion pilar the loot from the chest is just crap.

Latest loot besides the useless dust - Paragon 1300 -
1 Gray Morning Star
1 Blue Knights shield of strength
1 Blue Tassets of willpower (pants)
1 Blue Stole of Willpower (shoulders)
1 Yellow stalwart Girdle of Obsession (Belt)
— Sigh why even bother.

Looking at my Trophy section, I’ve completed 34 Terror Rifts (clearing 3 or 4 pillars inside them, so around 100 chests), 16 Oblivion Pillars (16 chests) and 4 Hellslayer Bounties (4 chests). The only type of gear I’ve had from all of these is items with a single class-ability magic affix, i.e. I have had zero eternal items (3 affixes + 4 magic affixes) from around 120 chests.

There’s rare, and then there’s 0/120 nonsense.

I think the problem is rarity and limited farming combined together. Difficulty levels are too short to even get 4 pieces that satisfy anyone. I have capped 2 weeks of rifts and had 0 useful legendaries. Even if I get 2-3 now, in 2 weeks we go next difficulty level and all of that gear will become useless anyways.

Too many RNGs involved here. It may be fine for Diablo 2, Diablo 3 or Diablo 4, but certainly not in Diablo Immortal because Immortal gear progression is tied to your character paragon.

So what if you finally gathered the awesome perfect eternal gear for your P1280 character after all the effort + luck you put into it? Congrats, it will be completely obsolete once your character reaches P1300+

They should either make a low drop rate Eternal Gear always rolls with 3+4 affixes or increase the drop rate for eternal gear with rng, not with both low drop rate and high RNG.

At this point, I stopped doing Obvillion Pillars or Hellslayer Bounty unless the hero journal required me to do so. I just stockpiled the Terror Essences to see what they are going to do with it in the future.

I’ve been doing all content on INF6 for many weeks now. All the gear I’ve dropped in the Terror stuff is Para 1300 gear. If I’d dropped any, it’d be useful for 10+ weeks once I hit 1300. But the issue is zero eternal gear from 120ish chests and only 20 terror essence from 100+ chests is just a woeful drop rate.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that you could fight a 21.5 million HP boss on INF6 and the loot chest only contain 2 blue and 1 yellow item, i.e. less loot than you could get by killing a single pack of mobs open-world in 2 seconds.

My Stash, which is full of 1782 / 1802 CR items, disagrees with this…

For me, there’s little point to that, as I’ll be aiming for 1300 next reset.

Well, clearly I’m not going to post 50+ screenshots of each individual item.

I’ve only kept the ones with good stats. I’ve salvaged hundreds of 1300 gear.

That’s the point of this thread, i.e. to point out how bad the pile is, not the incredibly rare diamonds you find digging through it. The ratio of manure to diamonds is entirely too high. Run terror rifts, for a chance to get terror essences, to run hellslayer bounties / oblivion spires, for a chance that a legendary even drops, for a chance that it has better CR, for a chance that it has a class ability you actually want.

As it stands, this is too many layers of RNG / nonsense for not enough reward.

I didn’t find any Terror Essence, just 1 legendary item.

From the statistics in…

  • Codex > Trophies > Feats of Strength > Age of Unmaking

I’ve done…

  • 54 Terror Rifts (4 of those were without rewards)
  • 41 Oblivion Pillars
  • 17 Hellslayer Bounties

In almost all of the Terror Rifts I’ve managed to complete 4 Spires, but some were just 3 so let’s say an average of 3.75 Spires per Terror Rift. That means I’ve had around 190 chests from the Spires. From those, I’ve obtained 58 Terror Essences, which is around a 30% drop rate. From the Oblivion Pillars and Hellslayer Bounties, sometimes they give more than one chest as the reward, let’s say 70 chests in total. So, in total, that’s 260 chests which potentially could drop eternal gear.

I have not received a single eternal item, just items with a single class-ability magic affix.

Zero eternal drops, from 260 attempts. This content is a waste of time.

Thank you. Then I continue stockpiling the Terror Essences then until the remaining contents actually give a decent rewards.
