Shroud of night is not allowing multiple essence at same time.
In this example chest and main hand.
When I have chest piece Layered Aims and main hand Greeting Shade.
Only Greeting Shade is active and that essence only showing in active skills.
When I remove Greeting Shade and go to skills, now Layered Aims is showing and is active with attack.
