[ Request ] Random Dungeon Finder - Option to only match with players with enough CR

The situation…

You use the Random Dungeon Finder, enter the dungeon with three random players, and one of them continuously dies. When inspected, they’re playing at INF5 and they’re multiple thousands of CR below the 31500 CR requirement for INF5 dungeons.

Could we have some sort of option / tickbox on the the RDF that means we only get matched with players that meet the CR requirements for the difficulty level at which they’re joining?

This would give the players that have enough CR the choice of either having a run with players that have enough CR to be there, or accepting that they may end up carrying 1-3 other players.

Quite honestly, it’s getting tiresome carrying people that cannot do any useful damage and die half a dozen times each dungeon.

The undesirable end-point of this is that the under-CR players will be kicked from groups.

Doing random dungeons this morning just reinforced why I requested this.

This morning I joined the Random Dungeon Finder on Inferno 6, which has a CR requirement of 33.7K. The group was formed, we zoned into Cavern of Echoes and one of the players, who was about Paragon 1025, kept dying on the trash mobs on the way to the first mini-boss fight. I inspected the player. They had also joined the dungeon at Inferno 6 difficulty. They had 20.7K CR, i.e. they were 13K CR below the requirement for the difficulty they had joined at. They didn’t even have enough CR to be there at Inferno 2 (21.5K) and they’re there at Inferno 6 (33.7K).

Why are parties being expected to carry players like this?
Please give us the option of not having to do so or kicking them.

Yes, it may be annoying, but with the new checkpoint mechanic it’s not so bad, waiting a few seconds here and there. And honestly, it also looks a bit better when you don’t wipe the floor with the bosses in 0.1 second imo. :upside_down_face:
Ultimately it would only further increase the gap new/returning players face when catching up.

If you have a problem with carrying random underleveled players, make a party. Problem solved. :hugs:

Kind of defeats the purpose of the random dungeon finder if we have to pre-form groups just to avoid having to carry players that are nowhere near appropriately geared to be there.

I think the purpose of ‘Random dungeon finder’ is random dungeons for higher drop rates, not random party. That’s why you get parties from across all servers and drop out after every run when you go in on your own.

And this is back in force this morning with the release of the new Inferno 1, 2 and 3 difficulties. The CR requirement for INF1 dungeons is 35070. Done some dungeons this morning and there were players joining the Random Dungeon Finder, on Inferno 1 difficulty, that were thousands of CR below this requirement.

Please give us a tickbox on the RDF that allows us the option of only matching with players who have the CR to join at the difficulty they’ve selected.

Giving this one a nudge due to increasing frustration with randoms this morning.

Today, I joined a random dungeon and noticed that one of the players, whilst moving around with the rest of us, didn’t seem to be making any combat animations, i.e. they weren’t attacking. Noticed that whilst the rest of us were over Paragon 480, this player was Paragon 109. I clicked on their hero portrait frame, and it showed they had joined the dungeon on Inferno 1. Inspecting them, they had under 15K Combat Rating. Now then…

Dungeon CR

  • Hell 1-3 (22520)
  • Inferno 1 (31220)
  • Inferno 2 (37520)
  • Inferno 3 (39520)

Yes, they had joined a dungeon at a difficulty for which they were over 16000 CR below the requirement for. They made zero contribution to the dungeon but, because of the new vote-kick feature, they couldn’t be removed for Idle/Passive Behaviour as they were running around.

Please, give players the option to not be matched with players like this.

Isn’t the random dungeons matching based on map difficulty opened to players?

Kinda impossible for a paragon 109 to play in inferno difficulty. That surely will die based on low CR vs map mobs. Unless that player was able to move past map difficulty levels thru the help of its clan. Still, it doesn’t answer the matching algorithm of the random dungeons.

Higher paragon players can play in lower map dungeons, so it’s likely that they can have lower level party members in that random dungeons sequence.

On the overall, there must be something wrong with the matching algorithm in random dungeons. And frustrating, because many seasonal events require doing random dungeons.

Indeed it is. However, it’s entirely possible that the Paragon 109 player could be carried through the end raid bosses of Hell 1, Hell 2 and Hell 3 by a high level player in order to unlock access to Inferno 1, and this enables them to queue up for Inferno 1 dungeons, despite being more than 16K CR too low for them. Heck, the player in question didn’t even have enough CR to do Hell 1 dungeons, let alone Inferno 1 dungeons.

This is observable in world chat requests. And sometimes, they get too demanding to be given priority than your own warband heli raids with players of or near your own level. I understand that unlocking map for lower level players in a clan is to help them get better gear. But, these said helped players got to initiate improving their CR first than do more than what their characters can actually accomplish. It’s also seen how many just try to level up their paragon without that much regard to their stats. Thus in the end, they won’t have that much damage, resistance and HP vs mobs and bosses.
