When game started out, a rank 7 ruby was equivalent to saying +10-20% max life or more when we had ~20k base life at very low paragon levels, even with high resonance the base life from gear stats were extremely low and wouldn’t increase them that much.
Currently, the numbers are considerably too low on the rubies with current state of the game, the base life on most of our gear is too high and resonance amplifies them alot more. A chest piece with +1% max life is way more effective than +1200 vitality on a double attribute item.
My idea here is to change the fixed number values into percentages as its more valueable for endgame progression - this is quite the same system that Diablo IV used to have with their rubies in armor sockets.
Current Ruby stat chart:
Rank 1: +80 life
Rank 2: +160 life
Rank 3: +320 life
Rank 4: +560 life
Rank 5: +920 life
Rank 6: +1480 life
Rank 7: +2160 life
Rank 8: +2920 life
Rank 9: +3800 life
Rank 10: +4800 life
Concept idea:
Rank 1: +0.80% max life
Rank 2: +0.16% max life
Rank 3: +0.32% max life
Rank 4: +0.56% max life
Rank 5: +0.92% max life
Rank 6: +1.48% max life
Rank 7: +2.16% max life
Rank 8: +2.92% max life
Rank 9: +3.80% max life
Rank 10: +4.80% max life
To my understanding, whales prefer to use all tourmalines for more base damage
If this stat redesign is not feesable, perhaps consider allowing us to convert our unwanted gems of same socket color to the other gem with a ratio of 1:1, 2:1 or 4:1 ruby to tourmaline e.g
