Please lower the CR requirements for Inferno 6

So, in a recent post, Blizzard said that the Combat Rating requirements for Inferno V were higher than intended and lowered them…

Will they also admit that the values for Inferno VI are higher than intended and lower them?

Let me explain why I think the Inferno VI values are too high.

My hero is currently Paragon 706 and has 45988 Combat Rating.

Set Items

  • 6 items with 2290 CR
  • 2 items with 2350 CR

Getting perfect, triple/triple set items will add 6 * 60 = 360 CR.

That would take my hero to 46348 CR.

Legendary Items

  • 2351, 2350, 2374, 2370, 2353, 2350, 2353, 2351

The maximum CR for legendary items increases by 1 per Paragon level which means that, at Paragon 799, max CR for triple/triple legendary would be 2350+99 = 2449 and eternals (triple/quadruple) would be 20 higher than that at 2469.

Let’s assume that somehow, at Paragon 799, I get the same as I have now.
That’s 6 legendaries that are triple/triple and 2 that are triple/quadruple.
That would get me an additional 780 CR.

That would take my hero to 47128 CR.

Raids
In the 10 weeks until 800+ there would also be raids.
I generally get 1-2 remains that are an upgrade per reset, for a couple of CR each.
Let’s go ahead and assume an increase of 15 CR per week.
That would get me an additional 150 CR.

That would take my hero to 47278 CR.

Tableau
In the 10 weeks until 800+ there would be Activity points gained.
I currently have a 5% Tableau rate which means I get one upgrade per week which grants 5 CR.
That would get me an additional 50 CR.

That would take my hero to 47328 CR.

Set Item Ranks

  • 4 Set Items at Rank 20
  • 4 Set Items at Rank 21

Let’s assume that in the 10 weeks until 800+ I get enough crystals to upgrade all four Rank 20s to Rank 21.
That would get me an additional 40 CR.

That would take my hero to 47368 CR.

Legendary Gems

  • 1 Rank 10 1-star gem
  • 6 Rank 10 2-star gems
  • 1 Rank 4 5-star (quality 3) gem with 1 progressive upgrade

In the 10 weeks until 800+ I might be able to do another progressive upgrade.
That would get me an additional 4 CR.
I could swap out the 1-star for a Rank 10 2-star I have in stock.
That would get me an additional 22 CR.

That would take my hero to 47394 CR.

The Open World requirement for Inferno 6 is 47690 CR.

So, with literally perfect set items, perfect legendaries, upgrading my Tableau, upgrading Helliquary remains, upgrading Set Item ranks, I’d still be 296 CR too low for Inferno 6.

Reduce the Inferno 6 requirements.
Do it before players hit Paragon 800.
Please.

INF6 dungeon is 48115.
My plan is,
I’m going to kill the INF5 last helliquary boss with someone’s help and from now on I’m going to play the INF5 and INF6 dungeons half and half.

Well, patch notes were released today for the update coming on the 20th March. No mention of a reduction of CR requirements for INF5 5th boss, INF5 Gauntlet, or INF6 open world, dungeons, raids or gauntlet.

Will they be reduced before the week the server reaches Paragon 800?

Their CR criteria design seems intentional. It seems like it will be like this from I5 onwards (raising it and then lowering it just before).

I thought this is what they are going now? Last minute drop.

I remember running i4 dung over 700 para for a bit cuz i didnt have the high cr before they dropped it. Was such a waste of time

Was checking my notes from i5 and I’m in the exact same cr gap as last time entering i5. 800 from ow and 1300 from dungeons. As before breaking 800 para should allow me to run ow depending on my crafting’s but I’ll still be under for dungeons

Why can’t you guys lock i6 to a paragon level rather than cr? If you don’t want people pre farming than that’s the best way to go. You don’t need to raise and then lower it and you already know what the cr for i6 is since you leaked it when you lowered everything else.

By giving an advantage to the high resonance, it seems to promote their money making. It also seems intentional that the Mirrored Jewels event is not notified in advance. Because of their petty money making promotion…
The most standard and correct way to promote money making is to make the game fun.

Seems like they‘ve listened

CR 46190 for Inf6 seems very reasonable. I’m only some 120 below that at the moment but with a few upgrades I should be past that once I reach P800.

  • Inferno VI Difficulty (Hidden Lair and Dungeons): Decreased from 47,690 to 46,190.

I’m guessing this is a typo as they mean hidden lairs and open world. With dungeons being 47,690 since reg and challenge dung are the same just one is locked by cr.

Not a typo. Right now Regular Dungeons are the same as Open World i.e. 47690 and Challenge Dungeons are 481xx in Inferno 6.

Just in case they stealth-change anything (like last time) here’s what the patch notes say today…

Combat Rating Requirement Changes

The required Combat Rating for multiple activities in Inferno V and VI has changed:

  • Inferno VI Difficulty (Hidden Lair and Dungeons): Decreased from 47,690 to 46,190.
  • Challenge Dungeons in Inferno VI: Decreased from 48,115 to 47,690.
  • Helliquary Bosses V:
    • Uthmaash-Ksarr the Breath Collector: 42,965
    • Xekorendaag, Ice Leviathan: 43,765
    • Morsagurei the Fisher’s Ruin: 44,565
    • Vogmarik the Tormentor: 45,365
    • Milgaist the Molten: 46,190
  • Helliquary Bosses VI:
    • Xekorendaag, Ice Leviathan: 46,790
    • Morsagurei the Fisher’s Ruin: 47,990
    • Vogmarik the Tormentor: 47,990
    • Mulgaist the Molten: 48,590
    • Deosbrae, Sovereign Shade: 49,315

The changes are certainly welcome. Hopefully, as the end boss of INF5 raids is being lowered, the INF5 Gauntlet will be reduced to the same requirement. As for the INF6 changes, it’s a little odd that the open world / standard dungeon requirement is being lowered by 1500 CR but the challenge dungeon requirement is only being lowered by 425. But, on the bright side, this means a lot of players will now be able to start pre-farming INF6 open world and standard dungeons, to get some INF6 greens / legendaries so that by the time they reach Paragon 800 and can equip it, the extra CR might get them into challenge dungeons.

I am extremely pleased by this.

I’m already on 46970 CR, so I’ll be spamming the heck out of INF6 come Wednesday morning and after Thursday’s raid reset, it’ll be time to have a look at the first INF6 raid boss too.

So that will be a change from current i5 dungeons then if that’s the case. Which is annoying because I only run RCD. Regular dung are so boring lol

Tbh prefarming legendary items is a waste now. By 766 any 3/2 drop is same as base i6. The cr difference between reg and chal sucks but at least they changed proactively rather than reactively this time.

It would be the same difference.
I5 normal/challenge: 42265/43765
I6 normal/challenge: 46190/47690
Both cases, CR for challenge dungeons is 1500 higher than for notmal ones.

I‘ll keep the Gauntlet until the Server Paragon changes to 800. Last time, I did the Inferno 4 one just before the change, because I was not strong enough and the resulting items where of no use shortly afterwards.
A Warband mate, did his run a few weeks later and got some good Inferno 5 drops. So I hope it will be the same with the Inferno 5 Gauntlet and it also drops Inferno 6 items, if done after all prerequisites are met.

This will also be kept as a final XP source, if all the others, I plan on storing until Server Paragon changes to 790, are not enough to instantly move me over 800.

Still, I‘m also happy with these changes and hope the transition to the new difficulty will be smoother than last time.

Is it? I always thought it was the same either way. Just chal you needed the cr to enter where as normal you didn’t

It’s prob one of those changes I’ve never noticed being over cr for both.

@Meteorblade

Really good job yet again detailing and laying it out

By the way, I just noticed. There’s probably a mistake in the INF6 raid boss CR list as it has the same CR for bosses 2 and 3. CR for boss 2 should be lower than boss 3.
