Re: My Experience Playing Diablo Immortal So Far - The Good and Not So Good in the Game -
Dear Blizzard / NetEase and Diablo Immortal Community:
I been a loyal Blizzard customer for over 18 years now, and I love my games, mainly World of Warcraft (WoW), and my other favorites are Diablo games. I been playing Diablo Immortal casually for over one year now. I started playing more frequently after finishing D4 Season 2, and today I hit Paragon level 706 on my main Necromancer character and got my gear level up nicely too, (between levels 12 and 14), half way to max gear leveling.
On Paragon Tree Specs:
This is a solid game mechanic in Diablo Immortal and not confusing at all. Well done, Blizzard / NetEase Team! I wish D4 had something like this! Lol. I have been experimenting with the different Paragon Tree builds. From what I experienced and know so far, Vanquisher is overall powerful and solid for most activities in the game. The Treasure Hunter is good for farming and XP, but still a bit lacking in gold drops. Not noticing much difference. For PvP Gladiator is solid. Another fun build I am trying out is Massacre and Brawler which seem to be fun too. I have unlocked all up to Dualist, and working towards unlocking Champion and Warden.
The variety and game progression is fun, epic and rewarding in Diablo Immortal, despite the “pay to win” many mention about the game. I purchased the top tier battle pass and got some awesome in-game cosmetics, and I’m very happy with the game. I am not into buying items that make my character stronger. I prefer to grind and earn my way up, and experience challenges, and enjoy the game. Having friends help in the journey makes the experience a lot better too.
However, I still think Gold earning and rewards in Diablo Immortal can be a lot better in the game, and although I am still learning where I can achieve earning better gold in Diablo Immortal, it seems a bit too limited. I will be trying out vault activities and see how that goes, for sure. It can become very challenging when you are leveling up gear that requires a lot of gold, especially to max level in the game, but so far I will see how it goes in the next few weeks and share my experience on gold earning. Hopefully, it will be good. I don’t want to assume anything until I fully explore this area of the game to help progress my characters further.
But just for comparison, I have over 2 billion gold combined between Diablo 3 and Diablo 4. There are much easier ways to earn gold for both D3 and D4, but not so easy it seems in Diablo Immortal, which I have yet to explore and see for myself. While all three have different game mechanics, I am certainly not looking for a super easy and exaggerated amount of gold to earn in Diablo Immortal, but simply a good enough amount of gold to level up gear, even if it requires some grinding and challenges to earn it.
One of the most important parts of the game progression in Diablo Immortal is to level up gear and that becomes very expensive as you level up your gear to max level, far more than any other Diablo game from my experience so far. So you can have all the mats necessary, but if you are short on gold you cannot level up your gear, and that is not good or fun to deal with especially if players put in a good amount of time and grinding in the game. But again, I will see how it goes as I progress and earn gold in the game.
From what I have read on the forums and Reddit, some players get stuck in their progress because of the limited gold earning in the game, and end up losing interest. This is understandable, but also unfortunate if the player is not aware of how to earn the gold needed to make good progress in the game.
I will find out for myself over the next few weeks to see how good gold earning can be in Diablo Immortal, because as I mentioned before I am still exploring and enjoying the game. So we shall see how it plays out soon enough.
On Diablo Immortal Classes:
My favorite classes in Diablo Immortal are: Necromancer, Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Crusader and Blood Knight - in that order. Necromancer and Barbarian are a lot of fun to play from beginning to max level. They are also Top Tier classes in Diablo Immortal, which is good! I got all of my characters to max level, except my Demon Hunter, and now I’m just leveling up Paragon Tree and gear for each one on my spare time. It will be a good while lol, but I am enjoying the game.
On Familiar Companions:
As for Familiar Companions, this seems like a fun addon in the game, and from my understanding it’s pretty new in Diablo Immortal, but this new companion in Diablo Immortal has buggy upgrade issues, and the whole process about Familiars is way too confusing. I just got my favorite companion to max level, and after initiating a Familiar companion Upgrade / Meld it failed 4 times with no upgrade at all, I ended up wasting 240 spirit essence for nothing. I will simply not try to upgrade my Familiar companion anymore until the Blizzard / NetEase game Devs update, fix and make this part of the game relating to Familiars and upgrading / meld feature more clear for all players. On the plus side, having a Familiar companion at max level aiding you in battles is always welcome in any situation and game. I just hope Blizzard / NetEase fix and improve the issues with upgrading Familiar companions sooner than later.
Suggestions for Mercenary Companions in Diablo Immortal - like D3 has:
I was wondering if Blizzard / NetEase would consider adding Mercenary Companions in Diablo Immortal like in D3, where we can hire Mercenary companions to help us in our game journey, and also have players gear the companions up as well. That would be very cool and fun. I enjoy Mercenary Companions in D3. If Mercenary Companions are ever added to Diablo Immortal, I hope Blizzard / NetEase make it simple, clear and fun for all players, unlike Familiar companions in the game.
Considering Diablo Immortal is a lot like D3, adding Mercenary Companions in the game would be epic and fun for sure. It’s something Blizzard / NetEase should consider adding in the near future. That would be awesome!
Suggestion on loot, cosmetics and stash sharing between all account characters in Diablo Immortal:
In this area, I don’t understand the limitations here at all. Every Diablo game has the ability to share cosmetics, loot and resources. This is definitely not good in Diablo Immortal, at all. If you change Hero class, you need to buy the same cosmetics even if you already purchased it in the game for that specific class character in your account, which is ridiculous. It’s fine for players to have the option to buy different cosmetics for each class and limiting per class and character, but not making the purchased cosmetic available after a Hero class change is simply not good.
Allowing for account wide sharing between characters for all players in the game would make it a lot better to level up Alt characters, instead of having to re-grind, re-farm, and doing everything from scratch again on a new character. This is definitely not good in Diablo Immortal. I hope Blizzard / NetEase eventually change this ridiculous and unnecessary restriction in the game. It is very disappointing for sure. Let’s hope this changes soon in Diablo Immortal!
On the Immortal Cosmetics in the game. I believe all players who put the time and effort, and earn any in game rewards in Diablo Immortal should KEEP the cosmetics earned, regardless if they remain a member of a faction or not. This rule is simply unnecessary and wrong to impose on players. Rewarding players for their time, grind, money spent and efforts in the game should not be punishing, it should be rewarding. I strongly suggest this rule changes in Diablo Immortal. There’s no reason for it.
As I mentioned before, I am still exploring Diablo Immortal, and so far I am enjoying it, despite some annoying bugs and obstacles along the way. I’m not expecting perfection in any game, but overall Diablo Immortal is fun, and the friendly and helpful player base in the game makes it even better! I joined a good Clan too, which also helps. Doing Towers is a lot of fun. Good loot and XP as well. * With that said, I wish the Blizzard D4 Team would add more fun, rewarding and badly needed QoL features to D4 as well! Hopefully, D4 Season 3 will be a lot better.
On a final note, based on my experience with the game so far, Diablo Immortal still needs some fixing and improvements, but overall the Blizzard / NetEase Team have done a good job with the game, and I hope they continue to improve the game further and expand on the good parts. Keep improving Diablo Immortal, Blizzard / NetEase Team!
That’s all for now! Happy weekend and gaming to all! Cheers! - JJ -
