I would like to suggest an improvement for the Elder Rift. Could you please add an option in the party finder (matchmaking) to search specifically for players who have Crests to use? This would ensure a more efficient and rewarding experience for players who are using their Crests, as it would prevent others from joining a party without contributing
Using crests would be great… Over a specific Paragon level, or combat rating would be great. I always love those characters that are simply there to passively reap rewards.
Fortunately you CAN achieve your goal today by organizing a party in World Chat and then starting the ER. “10c Elder 3x” is a great call to see in WC.
I don’t think a filter for Matchmaking is likely going to happen passively. But you can make it happen actively
I’m in favor of having a matchmaking option to only allow party members with at least one crest (and making sure you can’t remove it after being matched). Sometimes players join the rift and then stay at the entrance, or even quit, not contributing anything and leeching the extra embers. If adding at least one crest was mandatory, at least those players would have a limited number of opportunities to pull this off, and even when they do, their crest would at least contribute to the other players’ embers (just one ember is not that much but still better than players plain leeching).
I don’t consider organizing a party to be a valid workaround. The matchmaking system’s purpose is to save you from this burden and eliminate wait times. Organizing a party takes such amount of time that you would make up for the difference in embers by running more rifts for that time.
to get what you want takes work, its the same with the dungeon party finder. If you want a good group you look for it, if your looking for something quick you take what you are given
On the server cluster I play on, on a Monday morning, whenever someone says… 30 crests, 3 spots …in World Chat, the group’s usually filled in under 10 seconds and the runs are done about 3 minutes later.
That is why it is always recommended to do 30 Crests on Monday and Tuesday, because after that, it will be quite difficult to find a party for 30 crests run.
Also, I hate some uncivilized players who joined 30 crests run only to do 10 crests and then run away like they did nothing wrong about that.
I don’t want to go through 10, 20, 30 passes. I don’t always have that many. I go through elder portal with 2-3 crest and I want the players I find to have at least 1 crest.
That’s why it’s tough to find.
There are two weekly Fading Ember caps…
- Normal cap = 280 fading embers. Ten earned per Elder Rift completed.
- Bonus cap = 120 fading embers. One earned (by all party members) for each crest added to the rift.
This is why, particularly on a Monday, you’ll see lots of adverts for 30 crest runs. This is for four players, to do three Elder Rift runs, where each of them puts in 10 crests per run. This results in each of the three runs generating 40 bonus fading embers and, thus, the three runs in total caps their weekly bonus embers.
That’s why people only tend to do them in 10s, 20s or 30s in groups, so they can easily cap out their bonus embers. That’s why most players have no interest in doing groups where less than 10 crests are put in by each player.
On the server I’m on, Ive never had these issues.
To easily prevent this yourself, run with 3 other friends or clanmates who will have crests and not “cut & run”.
As others have stated, it’s unlikely they’ll make a change, but you can make a change on who you run them with.
