The current Legions of Horror event has this task…
Obtain 1 Terror Essence
This is bad, for a number of reasons…
- If a player has already done 10 Terror Rifts that week, they cannot earn these
- If a player has Terror Rift charges left, these are not a guaranteed drop
- If the player cannot obtain via Terror Rifts, that leaves the Marketplace, except…
So, you’ve basically introduced an event task that players could have absolutely no way of completing, either because they’ve already done all 10 of their weekly Terror Rifts, they didn’t get a Terror Essence from their Terror Rifts or there’s none to be bought.
This event went live on a Wednesday, increasing the likelihood that players could have already done their Terror Rifts on Monday / Tuesday before it went live.
Do you guys even think of this sort of thing before introducing tasks that will be impossible for some players to complete because they already used their 10 charges?

(terror essence out of stock - because 400 are too cheap ^^)

After reading this thread, I put my one and only terror essence up for sale in hopes of making someone happy. The max price is indeed 400. It sold instantly. I pocketed 310 after the outrageous marketplace cut. I can’t even buy a sandwich at the Westmarch tavern for that.
If you have a terror essence in your inventory, you can list it on the market and unlist it immediately to have it clear.

That actually worked. I was depressed when I learned I couldn’t clear the legions of horror as I already done the Terror Rifts for this week.
I don’t. I ran all 10 of my Terror Rifts on Monday, and then did Oblivions with the Terror Essences earned in them. The whole point is that this task is potentially non-completable because players may not have any Terror Rift charges left, may not get Terror Essences from the rifts if they do have charges, and there aren’t any on the Marketplace.
It’s bad design to create event tasks that players are incapable of completing.
I agree that it’s a bad design.
The quest has to rely on too low a probability.
I just wanted to give you a temporary solution.
Wish I had known this a few days ago … lol
