I watched a video recently where the dude claims that Fortitude is the most important primary attribute for getting strong in combat (starting at 7:02 in the video):
https://youtu.be/YDg79058-Nc?si=RRnJTLddJLxrItEF
He also says sealing Fortitude and Willpower based demonic remains in your HQ will boost your strength a lot (starting at 15:35 in the video).
I remember when I started to play the game I googled which primary attr are important for Necromancer class and Intelligence and Vitality were recommended to focus on.
So now I’m a bit confused. Should I really change my whole gear having Fortitude and Willpower based equipments?
In the video, it’s also claimed that Secondary attributes are very important and in the built example we can see around 3-4K points for each of these attributes (starting at 2:05 in the video).
I have only 1.5K for each at the moment having a 44K combat rating character on Interno 5.
Having more Fortitude and Willpower will automatically increase these secondary attributes or only the nomal and legendary gem upgrages can do that?
I feel kinda weak in challange dungeons on inf5 and PvP combat… so these things are the reason or am I missing someting else too?
Not sure for other classes but for necros (which I also play) fortitude provides armor penetration. On higher levels that becomes far more important factor determing your total DPS than raw base damage that intelligence provides.
To put things in perspective, why else are sapphires which provide armor penetration expensive gems on the market while tourmalines which provide raw damage sold at minimum price? AP matters much, much more.
Many things provide raw base damage but very few provide AP.
yes secondaries are HUGE, i5/6 they should be above 3k. amour and armor pen are key to keeping you alive which are boosted by those stats. If you havent done so reset Ibens and remove anything from life/dmg as well.
Yes. Fortitude and Willpower are definitely the most important stats in the game because these 2 stats scale extremely well every time your character grew stronger.
Main stat and Vitality are just existing to dilute the pool so you can’t get Fortitude and Willpower in your every drop.
Fortitude increases Armour and Armour Penetration…
Willpower increases Potency and Resistance…
Armour (decreases damage taken / increases damage reduction when blocking)…
Armour Penetration (increases the damage you do when landing a critical hit)…
Potency (increases duration of harmful effects on enemies, e.g. bleeds / damage over time)…
Resistance (reduces duration of damage over time effects on your hero)…
So, yes, you absolutely want gear items with Fortitude and Willpower on them, you want non-legendary gems as high rank as possible (sapphire = armour penetration, aquamarine = armour, topaz = resistance, citrine = potency), and to spend all of your points in Iben Fahd’s Sanctum only on the six nodes that grant these secondary attributes, i.e. do not put points into the three nodes that give HP, base damage, HP+base damage.
Thanks for the answers!
I’m wondering how I can get those stones for unlocking the nodes in the Legacy of the Horadrim. I have only 3 at the moment.
I found some hints in the Legacy of the Horadrim that for example obtaining the Nilfur’s Precision I need to defeat the Ancient Nightmare. But I’ve already defeated the Ancient Nightmare during the main quest and plenty of times again in challange dungeons. Why didn’t I have the Nilfur’s Precision then?
The dungeon’s boss is not what you need to defeat, it’s the one in the Ancient Nightmare event, every wednesday and friday at 12:00, 20:30 and 22:00 (server time) in Mount Zavain.
Do keep in mind though, if you have crap vitality, you will be squishy.
In other words, make sure you have at least one piece of gear with vitality on it.
Despite what the tooltip says armor doesn’t decrease dmg taken and only affects block’s dmg reduction which can only happen against normal dmg and never against crit. The reason why armor is wanted is to negate the enemy’s dmg bonus from ap.
You definitely want to get all your nodes unlocked, most of them are from the various world event bosses.
I think it’s worth clarifying whether you want pvp power or pve power.
For pve, check your character sheet, the tooltip will tell you how your armor pen (and other stats) compare vs the expected for your difficulty. Being a few hundred over the expected will significantly buff your damage and survival. Too much over has extreme diminishing returns and will not add much at all. For pve armor and armor pen are usually the most important, fortitude boosts those 2, that’s why guides might say fortitude is best. Dot builds love potency too, but even there you’d focus it after armor pen is above minimum.
Pvp the mechanic is similar, you want to be somewhat over your opponent, however opponents can scale far far higher. For pvp it’s also more debatable which stat is worth more. Certain builds stack huge potency even more than armor pen. Most stack armor pen. Bigger whales all seem to stack armor/resistance now for survivability.
