Immortal's invulnerability needs to changed in Vault Defense

There are so many Shadows camping at the entrance of the vault nowadays. The invulnerability that Immortal has when entering the vault barely matters as the shadow knows how to time it well by putting their debuff to prevent Immortal from even using anything.

They should make the invulnerability for Immortal persist for at least 2~3 seconds instead of completely removing it when Immortal is slightly moved. This would prevent the Shadow from camping at the Entrance as the sole optimal strategy to fight Immortal when Immortal can fight back and be uninterrupted by crowd control for a few seconds.

Also, please give some incentive for the shadow to enter Floor 4. At this moment, it took like 20 minutes on average for Immortal to enter the vault to defend. There were enough Immortal queuing for Vault Defense but there wasn’t enough Shadow even bother to pick fights with Immortal. If it were not because of the ridiculous weekly 1400 hilts, I wouldn’t even bother to waste my 1 hour staring at the vault queue. The Vault Defense is like a day job to me and I loathe it.

P.S. Please forgive me if I got the Immortal’s invulnerability wrong here.

The invulnerability is removed when…

  1. A short time has elapsed or
  2. One of the Immortals moves

Blizzard already have a much better method available to them that, for some reason, they just don’t use. You see it in all other forms of PvP, i.e. the one-way energy barrier, as seen in Battleground starter areas, Vigil of Blades starter areas, and so on. Immortals wouldn’t need temporary invulnerability on zone-in if the area they zoned into was safe from being attacked.

The issue here is that tasks for Shadows were changed from 3 per day to 21 per week. One of the three dailies always used to be to Raid The Vault. Now, the 21 weekly tasks can include Raid The Vault, but there are also lots of other tasks. It’s entirely possible to complete all of these tasks on a Monday. There’s a weekly Shadow task to open 40 Vault chests. Shadows can only do five vaults per day so, if they get 4 full clears (10 chests per clear) they’re done with that on a Monday. If they only open chests on floors 1, 2 and 3 they get 6 per run, and they’ll need another 2 vaults on a Tuesday. Then there’s the xxx/350 hilts from just running Vaults (viewable top-right of the Vault entrance) and you gain these by running Vaults, regardless of whether you win/lose.

All in all, Shadows can be done with their weekly tasks by Monday, their x/40 chests by Monday or Tuesday, and their xxx/350 hilts by Wednesday. After that point, unless they particularly want to fight some Immortals, they have zero reason to raid the vault from Thursday to Saturday.

I hear that. My clan just finished a 4 week reign. One hour vault defence, twice a day, six days a week, for four weeks. That’s a potential 48 hours of defence to do. I did 47 of them and there’s a lot of just running around open-world, farming monstrous essences, whilst waiting for the queue to pop. Lunchtime defences, unless on a Monday, are a ghost town, and later in the week (for reasons explained above) shadow activity drops off markedly.

True. Like how they put a wall in BG so attackers can attack defenders from their spawn zone to prevent defender camp at their spawn entrance safely. So why aren’t they doing for Immortal is just weird.

Even if I knew that I have invulnerability as long as I don’t move, i can’t speak for my party. What if one of them panicked seeing a shadow in front of him, tried to attack and then got entire team punished for his mistake.

Contrary to shadow’s belief, Immortal vault defense parties are usually formed hastily with random Immortal players as well, so getting every Immortal to work in the union is just outright fantasy.

Well said. Hence that is why shadow has nothing to lose vs Immortal in vault defense. They lost, they lost nothing as they are usually capped first. Immortal loses, they don’t gain a single hilt in that engagement, thus time loss. Waiting for the next queue usually takes another 20 minutes on average Depressing, is it?

I don’t even have time to do it at Lunchtime, so I can only do it at night side, and at best I can get 3 VD and if I am not winning, I would need to keep doing night VD until Saturday to cap the hilt. There are already a few times I failed to cap my hilt in that week despite that I am doing night VD every day. It is either they double the hilt gain for defending the vault as Immortal or give the incentive for Shadow to enter Floor 4 more often thus, a quicker queue for Immortal or Immortal VD party get like 100 hilts even if they lost the VD engagement.

Also, the lack of activity to do during the VD queue is another problem. I can’t enter the hidden lair solo, or do purge solo or accursed tower solo and etc. Fishing and overworld are the only activities that can be done when waiting for VD. :frowning:

That is exactly the reason, I don’t participate in Vault defence at all.
It is just losing time for me. Waiting 10+ minutes to be killed at the spawn.
Getting nothing.

As matter of fact, the whole idea raiding/defencing vault is total BS.
There is really no reason for Shadows to raid the vault deeper than 3 floors against mobs, and that’s it. You want nothing more than complete the weekly limits.

The reason why I even bothered with it is because of the 1400 hilts. Unlike Shadow who can easily get a lot of hilts just by running up to Floor 3 over and over, there is no alternative/easier way for Immortal to get those weekly hilts.

Those hilts are extremely precious IMO. :frowning:
