High spender banned

A good friend of mine just got his account closed without warning. He spent thousands of dollars on this game, and never done anything wrong, no susan, and is the friendliest guy ever.

He mainly play from PC with xbox one controller, but recently swapped to ps5 controller, both original, and both on blizzards approved list. Can this be the issue?

How do we go from here? He made an appeal, but they already wrote him they wont look at appeals. Is this even legal? To take away stuff you paid so much for, and not even get a reason?

Im so scared for my own account right now, Im 5k, and Im afraid I will wake up one mlrning and be banned. This is not OK! Im not spending a dime untill we get an answer from blizz. This is the second player I peronally know to get banned, and the other player only used phone.

The first thing people should do, IMO, is, before anything, send them a ticket inquiring about the controller they use, tell them the specs and any other info, and wait for response, while not using them in the meantime (you can play the game without them at least haha).
After they answer, mark their email (star or whatever), print it, and continue playing normally, if that controller is ‘legal’.

Some controllers can have ‘extra features’, some of which, like the use of ‘macros’ are against their ToS, as it does give ‘unfair advantage’ over other players. Even if you use one that has that, but don’t use, better not (or at least do what I said above).

Some players tend to sue VPN, or play from ‘different networks’ or IP, and that might mark them to be ‘watched’ for a while. Some players might get reported for what they said in chat, public or private, or some other behavior (that even their friends might not know about). Some might even share their accounts to other people, they think they ‘trust’, but these people use these ‘special’ controllers with their accounts, or with different IP.

They can/might track all those, so play safe (and again, if you have any doubts about anything, be proactive and send them tickets for more information, about your controller and else).

The only part I think they don’t do right is keeping people in the dark about what ‘exactly’ they did wrong, even though they have some things in their contracts, licences and terms.

I got some new information from him, which he didnt think about sinse he rarely uses phone:

“One more thing that happened to me that I have not mentioned yet was that my phone broke around two weeks ago, so i installed* DI on my work phone. On that phone my workplace require us to have a very special work related app (an APK) that runs in the backround all the time. It cannot be downloaded on google Play and it is not supporded by IOS.”

And this is from a content creator on our server:

"There are couple of things i tried to dig out. I cannot say who i talked to or who gave me the information.
I asked specifically if Playing Diablo Immortal on Emulators is something we should avoid?
The answer was we don’t condone the use of a modified way to launch any of our games.
Which explains the reason of banning are mostly a AFK farming or some sort of botting that system detects in the pattern which is repeatedly happening = Macro or scripting.

Pushing button while standing could be one of them as well.
Playing while VPN on is another thing which needs to be avoid.
Opening overlays on your phone could interfere with the behavior of a game which cheat system could detects as exploit. I would advice android users not to open overlays or different apps while diablo immortal is open.

AFK farming on follow have been reported massively in previous weeks. All tho its a illigible way to play but its quiet close to as doing spooning. I would advice to avoid it and not to do it for hours as the system can also detect for how long you have been doing it.

Blizzard policy do not allow community managers to give any specifics reasons for banning.
We as content creator and being in the diablo program are trying to push the idea to bring Strike system on account instead of direct ban just like what Blizzard NetEase China has."

He has played on that phone in the past, but I suspect this could be the reason? Is there any way of him resolving this?

Why emphasize “high spender” here? Are you under some kind of impression that “spender” is immune to suspension or getting banned?

No? The threshold of banning a 4k p1000 players should be very high, compared to all the new, often f2p players that have been banned. Banning ppl who have spent a lot of money in game and not giving them a reason, or the chance to appeal, is very provocative. Im not saying f2p player who have been grinding since day one isnt affected by a ban, but blizz loves money, this dont make any sense.

It is not. Being a big spender doesn’t (shouldn’t) give you an exclusive treatment or special privilege here.

The only ‘privilege’ huge spenders get is their overtuned characters, period. According to their ToS not even your account is ‘yours’, because they can take bans and other actions against you, but that should have a very good reason.

That’s why I told my clanmates to be proactive, send them tickets, asking if what they use (controllers), are allowed, and mark the email they get with a star or else, creating a ‘proof of defense’, if that comes to be the reason in the future. Also to stop all use of controllers not on the list, recheck their phones, TO NOT LEND THEIR ACCOUNTS (because one can be very careful, but their ‘friend’ they shared the account, could not).

IMO, you spend in any game, you pretty much won’t get it back, be it if you did crossed their ToS (and got banned) or not (continued). I think the huge spenders could be their ‘preferred clients’, but they HAVE to go according to the terms, or could lose in an eventual court.

I got banned too… My father passed away 6month ago, I haven’t been active until recently, got a new Legion Go just for Diablo Immortal and trying to get back in the gaming mood, 2 days ago, I was on a mid-night meal, checking on my retired mother … Came back to resume, usually I get the session time out disconnect while idle by a merchant safe zone but this time it says that i have been banned due to violation of “code of conduct”. So I submitted a help ticket, support team was not helpful, no proof when I asked for details. This is not right or fair.

…then it dawned on me… I didn’t make any transaction under Diablo Immortal as of the banned status… Whew!

But I did buy all the previous Diablo series + remastered series too… So far i am concerned the policy Blizzard way of treating handling paid customers

No whales aka big spenders should not get any advantage when it comes to rules… that’s a ridiculous notion to even think that… they are no more special than any other player, they just like to drain their accounts on digital items they dont even own lol…

Slightly old post but had to say my opinion. I agree. Being able to spend a lot of money should never grant special priviledges, not here or anywhere else.

If they could spent lots of money before, they can afford doing it again on a fresh account.

Yet Netease / China customers specifically get a ‘strike system’ - Who/where is the biggest revenue customers? As of 6 months ago, 60% of all ‘revenue’ was from China. Who gets their own events, ‘regional’ changes…China. So fairly certain, revenue generators are getting special treatment.

The game would be more peaceful and complete without those money-wasters who ruin the tranquility of the game. No one has obliged you to spend millions of dollars on this game, you give the money just like that without signing a contract. The game has rules that are democratic for everyone! Don’t live in communism, wanting the rules to apply to some, and for those who pay a lot of money not to apply?

Rather than meaning that those who spend a lot of money have privileges, I think it means, ‘Treat customers’ money carefully’ and ‘Don’t carelessly treat accounts where a lot of money was spent .’

Everybody who was ever banned is innocent according to the banee.

There’s definitely more to this story because if he is a high spender, it’s HIGHLY unlikely blizzard would’ve banned them without cause.

You’re right. High spenders should be treated more carefully and more importantly than low spenders when it comes to customer service.
