Having trouble to get a Familiar with 6 Rare or better passive skills

The 7th quest on Hell III in the battlebass goes like:
‘Have a Familiar with 6 Rare or better passive skills’
I remember there was a similar or the same quest before in one of the Hell questlines and I was able to finish it easily.

I just simply bought a Level 1 familiar then empowered to level 30 and the quest was completed. I did the same once again but the quest is not getting completed.
What do I do wrong?

You need a familiar with six rare skills, i.e. they all have to be yellow (or better).

I’ve converted 3 familiar into one and now I have 4 yellow skills. One more conversion like that should get me to at least 6 yellow skills, right?

It seems the only way to enpower familiars is to convert 3 into one. Is it really the only way? I have quite a lot spirit essence but a conversion doesn’t consume much. I assume there must be an another way

There used to be another way, i.e. Melding, but Blizzard removed that and now there’s only Converting.
Getting a familiar with six rare skills was a lot easier via Melding.
This is how it used to work (and is no longer possible)…

How to upgrade Familiar stats?

Well… If you meld two familiars which each have 0 rare skills, that results in a familiar with 1 rare skill. If you meld two familiars which each have 1 rare skill, that results in a familiar with 2 rare skills. If you meld two familiars which each have 2 rare skills, that results in a familiar with 3 rare skills. It’s a pity there is no other way but conversion because it changes the breed of your familiar. If you want to have a certain familiar (I love that cat-like being) then you will lose it in the conversion process.

But I don’t understand how this converting really works. I had a familiar with 4 rare skills (the yellow one if this is the rare skill) and I converted with two more normal level 30 familiars which have only blue skills. And nothing happened. Still have 4 yellow skills.
Previously when I converted 3 fimiliars with only blue skills I got a familiar with 4 yellow skills.

So how can I get 2 more yellow skills?

Convert same breeds if you want to keep a type. Even 2 of the same has a higher chance than 3 different ones.

Easiest (but not cheapest) is to convert 1 aberent with 1 leg skill with 2 aderrents with basic skills and without using conversion stone. 80% chance of having 6 yellow skills.
