Feedback and Discussion Thread: New BG Map and Mode - Convoy [UPDATE Mar 28 3:45pm PT]

On two occasions when my match was put into Sudden Death, the enemy team won without their idol reaching the next check point.

Hey,
first i must say that everything that comes new to the game is good because the updates keep the game fresh.
The new bg map sadly suffers from the the same problems then the old one, it is just too small and you get way too much aoe damage at the same time.

Then there are still the old class imbalance issues, tempest and barbs are way too strong (tempest aoe is out of control in combination with his movement, barbs have still the undying bonus no other class can even come close too).
Next time it would be better to make a more open area where groups need to split and maybe let only 2 classes from the same type join every match.

Negative:

  • only this battlefield is available during the main game time
  • the old problems here too… the group with the most barbs and kreuzis wins
  • very unbalanced team composition 3 kreuzis + 3 barbs in one team
    2 Barbs in the other
  • even more freedom for Highreso - F2P/Lowspend to slaughter
  • due to the fact that groups of 2 can register, even more unbalanced teams
  • as F2P or Lowspend you can only contribute little to the team overall
  • here the ignorance of what to do comes to light even more clearly
  • Why is a new, untested mode being used directly as a battleground rating?

Positive:

  • the misery is at least over quickly

Bottom line: I personally don’t like the new battlefield! And if there isn’t at least the choice to play the old or the new BG at the same time in the main game time soon, the game will become even less interesting for me

CHANGE the point system of battlegrounds. Stop deducting points.

How’s the new map? It’s an absolutely fantastic experience, of course. My 2K RS got matched against four players close to 10K.

By the way, could you open up a completely empty new BG map so I can see what it looks like? Because as a Sader, with no movement speed, I can only survive for three seconds on the new map. No movement skills, no immunity to CC, and no damage reduction.

After playing dozens of matches, my skills are always on cooldown, my win rate is negative on the new map, and I still haven’t seen the whole map.

By the way, why did you only match me with four 10K players? Are you looking down on me? At least give me eight!

Also, why did you give me seven protection points when you know it’s an unfair match? Just deduct the full 12 points! At five points deducted per match, how long will it take me to reach -1000 points?

So many high resonance players complain about waiting five minutes for a match, why don’t you just match them all with me?

And while you’re at it, create a -1 million BG points achievement, and when I reach negative legendary, give me an immortal skin.

So far so good conceptually, but we need ranged classes to be as tanky as barbs with 30% damage reduction as we saw mentioned coming in future patch possibilities to know the truth.

I whole heartedly agree with this point.

The introduction of points deduction for losing, particularly in the unbalanced, P2W format that is Diablo Immortal was an act of pure toxicity from the developers. The only reason to do this was to stop virtually every player reaching legend rank and getting the end of season rewards available at legend rank, which, to a low spend or F2P player, ARE significant, and even more so now with the legendary crests added this year to the season rewards.

Not to mention the fact that by doing so, you simply increased the frustration levels of players when they load into a game and see they have lost as they’re on the “wrong” team and they’ve lost points purely owing to the on-going MM problems you’re only too aware of and are as old as the game.

Bottom line: You changed it to encourage more P2W on secondary gems and now legendary crests.

Revert back to the old system and remove points deductions. This was a change for the benefit of Blizzard’s bank balance, not the player base - there is enough P2W in the game, you can afford to give the players this small mercy back.

Depending on whether you’re in Bronze, Silver or Gold, there’s a sizeable difference between the amount of ranking points added for a win, and the amount of ranking points deducted for a loss. For example, in Gold, where the difference is the least, you still get +25 points for a win and -12 for a loss. When losing, the deduction is mitigated if you have earned badges (e.g. most damage done, most damage taken, longest time on idols, MVP, etc) so that if you lose, with 2 badges, it’s actually a -10 for a loss. Assuming that, just by law of averages, you’ll be randomly placed on a winning team just as often as a losing team, that means for each 2 matches, you’ll have a +25 and a -10, for a net of +15, i.e. if you keep playing you will reach Legend eventually. I got there yesterday…

I have a 63% win rate but that was probably skewed by early matches against bots in Bronze / Silver. Last season I think I ended up with about 56% win rate at the end of the season. At that rate, that means for every 20 matches, I’d expect 11 wins (so 11 * 25 points = 275 points) and 9 losses (so 9 * -10 points = -90 points), which means a net of 185 points per 20 matches. As it takes 200 points to go up a rank, that means you’ll see a rank-up every 21-22 matches, or so.

Getting to Legend is very much a case of how much you’re willing to play. The wins and losses tend to even out but you gain more for a win than you lose for a defeat, so over the long term, it’s an ever increasing points tally.

I reached Legend rank in every BG Season with my 2k reso, and I have an average 55%-60% win rate in every season.

Reaching to Legend is more like grinding actually.

i wish they deduct only -2 from player like me whom having bad luck all the time with 32% win rate - defeated all the time ( come on bliz ( please consider those with low win rate to have low deduction) without us - it wont b any game pvp match)

Please add the option to play during the daytime. Also, improve class balance to ensure an equal distribution of all classes, especially barbarians and crusaders. Currently, there is too much damage immunity in BG.

Thank you to every one that provided feedback on the new Convoy BG mode. First round of improvements land next week, including changes to matchmaking to better balance teams after the intro of Duo Queue. This won’t be in the patch notes, but in the Bug Fix notes later next week.

Barbs and crusaders are running amok. They need a urgent nerf to their cheesy immunities !!! You nerf wind walk but completely forgot undying rage and conjuration of light !? Enough with cheesy and unfair class bound immunities while everyone else has to to suffer it ! Nerf it as fast as possible if you want to keep the remaining playerbase. This has to stop !

Your word in God’s ear!

You have often promised to improve the MM - but in the end it was only better for Highresos who pay a lot.
A gift! You are a company that naturally wants to earn money. I understand that.

Let’s just hope that your “improvements” don’t scare away too many remaining PvP players in Lowspend/F2P who keep your Highresos happy.

After all, if the toughest lowspend/F2P players leave the battlefield, your paying customers will eventually only be able to fight against their peers and may no longer consider payments to be worthwhile

The speed at which the statues move forward is too fast. Therefore, if there are many members of a class that cannot ride the statue, they will lose. In the original battlefield, there was a strategy of eliminating the opponent before moving forward, but that strategy is no longer available.
Matchmaking is also broken.
If you are planning to officially replace the normal battlefield with the convoy battlefield in the future, please do not do so. I have no intention of ever playing the convoy battlefield again.

Exactly. The idol move back to the checkpoint is too slow, so it is always a gains for the enemy tank to push the idol for few seconds and then withdraw for heal. Rinse and Repeat, and now the idol at the checkpoint.

This coming with a nerf to barb and tempest meta? 6 months (or more) of these 2 being out of control and you guys seem to keep buffing them

The meta is 60% barb and tempest according to the pvp metrics, time to bring them back in line with other classes or buff some of the underperforming classes to match their power level.

  1. Convoy is moving too fast

  2. BK summons need to be nerfed. It is killing guardian buff too fast, similar to monk cyclone strike before it is fixed.

  3. Duo party mm does not seem balanced

Please reinstate the supposed bug for monks or at the bare minimum, at least partially. Monks are a melee class and should be able to have comparable damage as other melee classes. but instead monks are completely ineffective yet again. All because the masses that never had to worry about monks were suddenly threatened by them. Simply look at any server and see the MVP percentages of monks, it’s next to zero.
