In the latest Patch Notes there wasn’t anything about the currently active Colossal Surge event.
However, if we look at the Colossal Surge event screen in-game today…
…the end date for the event has changed.
If I recall correctly, the event’s original end date was 1st May.
Now it’s been extended and the end date is 1st June.
Does this not mean that some players, thinking they wouldn’t be able to reach 22 Polished Cores before the original end date, might have used them on lower quality upgrades? Now that there’s another month to earn Polished Cores what will you do for the players that already used theirs based on the original end date?
Also, why wasn’t this change in the patch notes?

I suspect Meteor you’ve touched on EXACTLY why this wasn’t in the patch notes - the matter of compensation for those who already used their polished cores.
Call me cynical, but given past behaviour…

I used my extra Polished Cores for gem power because I believed the end date was May 1.
This has to be one of the shiftiest, most dishonest companies I’ve ever dealt with in any facet of business or entertainment.

Yeah, I rather hope the date change is not real. I saved up and spent a ton of plat to buy a 5/5 Colossus because I could not reach 22 polished cores before first week of may. If I had an entire extra month of crest usage I could have reached 22 and used the cores to upgrade. If this change is real then I spent a couple hundred k plat I did not need to.

The problem is that the patchnote doesn’t always have all the information. This has been mentioned more than once by players on Reddit. I try to read more of the Chinese version (via page translation in google chrome). It was written about it in the article. Not all the changes apply to the global version of the game, but some things are better described.

This whole surge event left a bad taste in my mouth. Every time I play it’s just a constantn reminder that I could’ve had a 5* of either and now I have a 5* of neither. I used my polished jades and now I only have 4 more to obtain. I would’ve EASILY met the 22 and upgrade to a r7 5* Starfire or r6 5* Collosus Engine. If I’m not compensated I will end my time with DI and they will not get another dime from me personally.

Im on the otherside of the fence. As it has been extended i have chosen to spend money to get gem upgrades so if they change the date or end this event before June 1st, i’ll be upset and feel cheated.

They wouldn’t change the end date again. If anything they need to just give back ALL of the polished jades to everyone. That way we could use ours the right way and you can use yours the right way. Everyone wins!

Yeah, once they changed it to say June 1 they really really should not change it yet again to go back, that’s worse than extending it forwards.
Same here but with 4/5… I bought one a week ago for 124k plat because I was sure I won’t get 7 thrums. Until June 1st I could have make it

I totally understand where you’re coming from my friend. I’m doing any and everything I can to get them to fix this for us all. Blizzard isn’t helping me and they’ve resolved my tickets without any help. Do better Blizzard.
Edit: Has anybody heard anything from Blizzard? They keep saying currently there’s nothing they can do? I already stopped spending other than today’s BP. I have about a dozen people ready to boycott spending just from this alone.
Ah, you buy gem power with Polished Cores, not Polished Cores with gem power, I never was sure how this part works. ^^“”"
Never looked deeper into this but I guess I skip this part anyway and get my 5000 Plat for one Core when the event ends. On my Server, most 1* gems are sold for just 400 Plat, so the 11 Gem power you get for one core would only be 4400 Plat worth.
If you trade in the core for gem power, you get 10 gem power.
The core gets converted to 5000 plat when the event ends. So, you could buy 12 1-star gems for that, with 200 plat left over, and get 12 gem power.
Absolutely stupid move, they should’ve announced it, this way they’re pretty much losing money.
As a moderate spender I counted that I’d reach 8 Polished cores by the original end date so I used 7 to upgrade my 3/5 Starfire.
Now with the extension I’d get much further, possibly all the way if I spend some extra, and 4/5 Starfire isn’t all that expensive on the market, but there’s no point anymore.
There’s plenty of time before the event ends, they could still at least add a one-time “Undo” option for the upgraded gems, but of course that would do nothing for the people who already went other ways because of the earlier end date.
Because as per usual blizzard always makes more issues
If only I knew that they would extend the Colossal Surge event, then I wouldn’t have used 4 Polished Cores at that time, and today I would have 7 Polished Cores to upgrade my Starfire to 4/5 tier.

Same here, I already spent 7 of them on starfire upgrade as I was sure I couldn’t be able to get all 22. Seems like I would have. I would totally prefer to upgrade my colossal engine to 5* instead.
Getting a compensation would be lovely. Or at least adding another set to the Surge event so it would be possible to get more?
Just a reminder, this event ends in just over 8 hours (on EU servers).
Taking screenshots prior to it ending, just in case of issues…
Showing that I have 5 cores…
Showing that they should be converted to 5000 platinum each when event ends…
Showing those 5 cores in my Inventory’s 4th tab…
Showing my current Platinum total (5121)…

Thanks for the idea. I don’t usually keep tabs of my inventory, but knowing how they have messed up in this and other events, I will do this same thing (screenshots) with all of my characters. Just in case.
Event ended. Cores correctly converted to platinum.
