Recently I have seen an increase in players either AFKing at the entrance or straight up leaving through the portal but staying in the party. Basically they are freeloading off the players who actually run the rift, which becomes slower to complete because it’s scaled for 4 players while being completed by only 3 or sometimes even 1.
Some suggestions to deal with this:
- add an option to require every member to contribute at least one crest, that way those AFKers have a limited number of runs they can leech off and the non-leechers at least get progress towards their weekly cap from those crests
- if you quit through the portal, you should immediately be kicked from the party
- if you don’t move far enough from the entrance by the time the boss spawns, you should be ineligible for rewards
look for a party in chat, if you just go random thats on you for what party you get
most times bots afk for rewards w/o the work, if thats the case just boot them
I’m genuinely curious…
The only Elder Rifts I party up for are three runs each Monday where all four of us put 10 crests into each run, so that all four of us cap out on bonus embers. The rest of the week’s Elder Rifts I run solo, as it’s much quicker. What’s the benefit of running them in a group with randoms? I could understand it if you were doing it with Friends / Warband members / Clan members, for the increased Activity Points reward but, if you were doing that, wouldn’t one of you be the party leader automatically and could remove the non-contributing players?

Exactly. We only need to run ER with full party for 3 times per week due to fading ember, and after that it simply optional.
