Avoiding other Diablo games affixes, Immortal has various labels. I am not try to make this convoluted, only attempting to fully understand the descriptions so I adjust my gear accordingly, with gems and gear choices.
- Negative effects
- Continuous damage
- Continual damage
- Control impairing effects
Rather than assuming and reading as it seems, I could take negative effects as anything that prevents a PvE or PvP player from functioning properly? That may be wrong as it seems too generalised. Or, is it something new(er)?
Control impairing I have thought it was any effect that causes an inability to move, including knockback, jailing etc etc
Continuous means uninterrupted in its definition. So this means as an example, perpetual hitting using the same skill? Yes? No?
That only leaves continual which means more frequently. Is this elemental effects? Or did I get the previous back-to-front with this one? If so, it probably would have been smarter to simply say āelemental damageā.
Any correct explanation is appreciated.

Thats GREAT that this got an answer. Im still trying to find the answer to this man. It make no sense that a wizards āshockā D.O.T. effect isnt considered continual or continuous damage. That literally defies logic in every possible way imaginable. I sometimes feel as if they had a room full of children testing this game and the beta was all just a bunch of smoke & mirrors b.s. lol

The only logic I could derive from it is that
- Negative effects subtract (being minus) from health and stats? Skills? yes? No? Who knows?
- Continuous and continual both can mean uninterrupted⦠but I figure it means one is by non-elemental and the other is elemental.
- Control impairing effects can also be caused by any of the above as well as knockback, jailing, stunning, freezing so on and so forth - except they all seem to cross over.
So yes, it would have been nice if someone could have clarified it accurately and show where they do and do not cross over as you insinuated. For example if frozen or chilled, you get continuous and control impairing if you have bonuses on both, or say only one⦠You get my point, itās not exactly specific.
I couldnāt have said it any better myself. And to me itās utterly erroneous how inattentive theyāve been to clarify somewhere thatās obvious & for all to see. Iām sure something can be found somewhere, but Iāve yet to discover it myself as I spend any free time I manage to acquire in game (single dad of 2 tiny ones). Itās 1 of the biggest topics of debate that Iāve seen anywhere in game or even Reddit & YT comments, so Iām sure they know how confused so many are still to this day. I mean even if a small percentage of what Iāve heard is true, than itās most likely that most of (exactly how much could never be accurately calculated so why even pretend lol) have been at least slightly impetuous in our efforts to make the perfect build & catch wreck effortlessly more often than not. At least thatās my primary goal anyway. Evidently weāre doomed to remain unenlightened regarding any such matters until the next title of this series is announced and the straw breaks the camels back for our beloved Immortal.
