DI Team should really increase the hilt gains from Vault Defense as Immortal

Today is Wednesday, and I only able to play 2 Vault Defense as Immortal. 30 minutes per VD queue. :frowning: :frowning:

I don’t know about other servers, but in SEA server, most shadows stop doing Vault after Tuesday, and most likely due to that they capped the weekly hilts and weekly chests on Monday or Tuesday.

Maybe you guys should really create an incentive for shadows to do Vault PVP after Tuesday, so Immortal can max their weekly 1400 hilts, or increase the hilts gained for Immortal that successfully defend the Vault and Immortal gets half of the hilt gains when they failed to defend the Vault.

This should reduce the amount of VD that Immortal needs to do, and those who like doing VD can continue doing it while those who do it for the sake of weekly hilts can quickly cap it and move on.

Also, maybe it is just my server, but the shadow clans generally hate Immortal clans, so they could purposely not doing the Vault PVP (boycott) just to starve the Immortal from capping the weekly hilts.

This was from just Monday lunchtime’s defence on the cluster I play on…

That equates to my group’s 15 successful defences.
We had more defences than that in total, it’s just that we lost some too.

The activity certainly drops off later in the week on our cluster too, but there’s enough players that just enjoy the Vault PvP enough that we still get matches on defence every single session.

I think this lunchtime’s defence my group had at least a dozen alerts.

That is entirely possible too.

For example, there’s a recently available tactic for Shadows since the cooldown on Vault raids was removed. When a Shadow raids the Vault, regardless of how many floors of the Vault they visit, that earns the Shadow 10 points for the Activity section of their Deeds of Valour. Now, because the cooldown was removed, and you have a cap of 10 raids a day, Shadows can do 10 Vault raids where they just clear floor 1 (opening 1 chest on the way) and then exiting after floor 1. In this manner they can earn 100 activity points towards their Deeds badge, for under 10 minutes spent, and open 10 chests. They can do this Monday to Saturday, gaining 600 activity for their deeds, and capping out their 40 chests for hilts / gold. This method results in the Immortals getting zero alerts and the Shadows maximising their Deeds Activity.

The obvious thing here is that if all Shadows did this, screwing over the Immortals (as they can only earn hilts for a successful defence), then when that reign ends, and those Immortals become Shadows again, what possible reason would they have to alert the newly crowned Immortals that had screwed them over.

If you’re a Shadow, and you’re going to use this 10 runs a day method, at least make one of your runs to Floor 4 so the Immortals get some action and the possibility of also earning their hilts or, when the tables are turned, you’re also going to be starved.

Surely you know from your experience as a Shadow previous to being Immortal, that after capping chests, many shadows only do first floor in/out x 10 for the activity points.

And it shouldn’t be much of a surprise to learn that clans from the previous Immortal reign are doing this to you as well. Very few of them will do the 4th floor; the exception being the krakens who know they will win.

And you’re right. Why would we want to help you in any way? My last clan refused to let Immortals kill them, so they would open whatever chests they could on 4th floor and then everyone would exit the moment the message appeared that Immortals had entered the vault.

And, if we’re fast and strong enough, we can actually open all the chests, kill the guardians who alert the Immortals, take down the last big Guardian and leave via the portal that opens. We take your stuff and leave. Robbing you is part of the game.

Furthermore, if six Immortal-swapping clans can collude and fix matches/reigns, then Shadows can surely agree to make things difficult for Immortals too. Works both ways Kilometer.

Enjoy your reign.

When I’m a Shadow, I make a point of still going to Floor 4 each day, so that the Immortals don’t starve for the simple reason that when I’m an Immortal I don’t want to starve either.

I’m under 2.5K resonance. I’m a minnow. I still do lots of matches. Some of us do it for fun, not because we’re sure to win. On our cluster, the running gag is about the Shadows stealing the Immortals’ pants from the Vault. Every Vault hour World Chat has people giving GGs to each other, jokes about camping, and generally poking fun at each other. When we’re Immortals, we’ll say daft stuff about what the Shadows can get if they come to Floor 4, e.g. a cup of coffee and a cake, a mug of tea and a scone, 10 legendary crests for each Immortal killed, etc.

On my server, the whales all gg each other because they know that kissing each others fannies will get them the next Immortal reign.

On my server, Immortals will mercilessly camp the Shadow spawn points, spam endless CC and compete amongst themselves for most kills. And they get indignant when we refuse to res any longer.

On my server, we can help out Immortals fill their party in Terror rifts, Challenge rifts, raids, etc. Instead of a ‘thanks for the group’ (tyfg), they leave rudely, indifferently and quite often without any warning. Very rarely is there a word of thanks.

On my server, there are very few lowbies in any of the whale clans since the server merger. Most are 8K to 12K resonance and intolerant of anyone lesser. All their lowbies are in alt or farming clans.

On my server, some of the whale clans are transplants from Eastern Asia and never offer help to anyone.

I’m glad to hear that you’re on a server where some semblance of cordiality and good manners still exist instead of a smug, stand-offish attitude. Sadly, it’s not the same for all of us. Perhaps if our ultra-competitve Immortals were somewhat more considerate, we might extend the same courtesy to them.

I think people have misconceptions about Immortal clans. Contrary to what people believed, most immortal clan members were not whales, just your normal players with 2k-3k reso.

Dunno about other servers, the whales in my region won’t do PVP Vaullt once they capped their weekly hilts. Most of them would rather spend their time playing BG, which is usually open during Vault time.

That being said, Blizzard needs to do something about it. Just now, I only get 2 VD in 1 hour VD queue. There were only like 8+ Immortal parties queuing for the VD.

I did an hour’s Vault Defence today, and this is what my Codex looked like afterwards…

That’s 300 BP, at 15 BP per successful defence, so 20 successful defences. We had more alerts than that, but we lost some of the matches. Regardless, we capped out our 1400 hilts long before the hour was up.

Are you on a low population server, maybe?

I don’t think my server population is low.

That is my one hour VD result. Granted I lost 2 or 3 VD though. This is Monday, and peak time for VD and I only able to get like 5-6 VD matches, and the number of VD will drop harder on Wednesday where I most likely will get 2-3 VD per hour.

I think the problem stemmed from there were too immortal queue for VD and too little shadows want to enter Floor 4 or engage with Immortal in VD in my server.

On my server, that seems to be a somewhat popular method of doing vaults and maxing them out in one or two days. But only somewhat, I still see many players doing vaults the rest of the week. Ever since they removed the cap, this has become somewhat more popular, amongst hardcore grinders. Many Shadows have no interest in spending that length of time on one activity.

That is the way, the now older vault system, worked with the cap on daily vaults. Many players end up missing a day and the cap made it very difficult for shadows, and therefore their shadow clans to achieve the ranks they need. I, for one, am grateful they removed the cap, since it now offers more flexibility to shadows.

On my server, I am not aware of this type of behavior even though there are some clans that definitely might feel this way and could be participating in this behavior. It could be a method from the lower ranked clans that feel they’ll never have a chance to become immortal and are doing this, I don’t know.

Generally, all of the top 20 clans, on the Leaderboard, are friendly and most of those shadow in those clans almost always complete the fourth floor, anxious for a chance to kill an immortal. Even the lower level players consider it a challenge, all in good fun. There are many Gg’s on both sides afterwards.

I am not aware of this behavior and I would never condone it in my clan. This could be another tactic from lover level clans, not only since they think they will never become an Immortal clan, but also because on our server, the top 5 clans on the Leaderboard, appear to coordinating Rite of Exile activity to keep each of them not only in the top 5, but to ensure a Blessed Reign on their turn at being Immortals as well.

I know it was not your intention, and I would never advertise or condone this behavior in my Shadow clan. But inadvertently, you may have just informed a lot of players to do just that. I really hope not, but we all know and understand the competition between Shadows and Immortals, cultivated by the game since it’s inception. I do not think they want to drastically change this, or for that matter create an unfair imbalance between Shadows and Immortals.

We all know and understand what can happen when people feel they’re backed up against a wall and have no other option than to fight in any and all methods, fair, or unfair, kind or unkind. There are many examples in history worldwide. I definitely hope all of this does not become more “personal” between Shadows and Immortals, after all, this is just a game and games should be fun for all!

They removed the cooldown between each Raid run.
They did not remove the cap, it’s still a maximum of 10 raids per day.

I was in Immortal Clan until last Sunday and yes I agree with you.
The DI team should increase the vault defense rewards.
(I got the symbol of “Chosen by Kion” but that was almost from the last Exile event. XD)

I agree with you. I misspoke.

Getting the 1400 hilts hasn’t been a problem on my server. We just finished a blessed reign, and usually we get the 1400 hilts on the first day. On subsequent days, when the queues get slower, we still get some action.

That said, it would be nice if there was an incentive for Shadows to raid the vault after all 40 chest rewards have been used. The Vault is the most fun PvP mode in the game imho. It’d be nice to incentivize more of it.

With the cloaks and recent changes I feel there needs to be an update on both sides. Not only have they sped everything up they’ve done little to fill in voids left by the weeks end. BattlePass, vaults can be capped in no time. With cloaks shadows are left with 2 weeks approx of no rank upgrades and all the immortal stuff in these periods. The games turning into an afk/casual paradise and those who put time in are left in limbo

Sigh…today is Wednesday and I still haven’t capped the weekly hilts in one hour VD runs. :frowning:

I guess this just has to vary server to server because I still had at least a dozen successful defences this lunchtime. I didn’t do Monday / Tuesday evening defences, and this is my standing…

Our current Rank 1 has almost 1500 from Vault defences this week, i.e. almost double my amount of defences or they had more shadows per alert and/or a higher win rate.

Thursday lunchtime. So, quieter than the start of the week, but still decent…

It took me 4 days to cap weekly 1400 hilts.

One hour of VD (night) for each day.

My server/region needs help or a boost.

Friday lunchtime defence…

For me I don’t even bother putting on PvP gear anymore. I just pop as many chests and essentia as I can to cap then I’m done for the week. There is no incentive to try to fight. I loose essentia changing builds. So that’s one day out of 6 and I usually wait until my Bp is capped for activity points reasons.
