Dear Diablo Immortal Team

I would like to express my concerns regarding the recent Gem Surge event. I understand that the intention was to create a fun and rewarding challenge; however, the difficulty of this event has become nearly unattainable for many players.

I am worried that this may discourage a large part of the active community, which is essential for the continued success of the game. I believe that adjusting the difficulty of events and making them more inclusive could increase player satisfaction. After all, a game that promotes a sense of community and shared fun is a game with a bright future.

Thank you for your attention and for giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts.

Sincerely, Zerachiel

I saw a post on Reddit, breaking down how much it would cost to complete enough of the event tasks to reach enough jade to upgrade a single 5-star gem from Quality 4 to Quality 5, and that was around $1200. So, it’s pretty clear that the intent was to milk some money from the whales, not to allow F2P or low spenders achieve anything useful.

I read from the DI Reddit that the most useful thing that F2P or low-spenders can get is upgrading from 2/5 to 3/5. I guess it is better than nothing.

I will just be content with an extra 2 stashes from this patch update. :+1:

I don’t have any quality 2 5-stars. :frowning:

I somewhat find it harsh to judge an event based on its first day.

I do not want to undermine complains about mistranslation and mistakes/bugs which are legitimate, but the event is supposed to last 3 weeks and everybody jumped into conclusions few minutes after its live… spending 1k+ the first day is the Pay2Fast way of doing it.

My advice: experience it the whole 3 weeks and spend only on the last day to complete your goal. This way will be more affordable for the most.

Edit: not aiming at OP specifically but more a general comment on the community reaction, sorry about it, did not want to offend :grimacing:

When it was possible, on day one of the event, to see how much it would cost to obtain 22 jade ($1200) why isn’t it valid to judge it as an attempt at a massive money-grab?

I’m am not saying it is not valid, just harsh.

And the cost calculation did not take into account the value of all the items we get through the event and during the 3 weeks (i.e. weekly/monthly LC) only what it costs on day 1 completion to get 1 upgrade + 1 5*/5.

It does not serve the community to rant all the time at every occasion on the spot. It is not healthy neither

If you were to do a full phantom market + gallery clear = 3836 points, 9 PJs … For the remaining 13 PJs, you would need to run an additional 335 crests to get 22 FOR A SINGLE 4/5 to 5/5 UPGRADE

They also just mentioned that you get 100 free points weekly, so 300 over the course of the 3 week event. Adjusting accordingly, that’s ~19 crest’s worth. So best case scenario for a single 4/5 → 5/5 upgrade, full phantom market and phantom gallery clear + 316 crests … lmfao.

So, let’s say that over the three weeks the event is active, you earn 10 eternal legendary / legendary crests per week, that still means you’d need to run 286 crests.

You have to buy the currency to complete the phantom market, gallery and crests. This requires just under 90,000 orbs worth of items. The 15,000 orb bundle costs $200 and you need six of these, whether you need 286 or 316 crests, i.e. regardless of crests you might be able to obtain freely in-game you need to spend $1200 to get the quality 4 to 5 upgrade.

Sorry, but pointing out that it’s ridiculous that their special event’s top prize costs $1200 isn’t harsh, it’s entirely justified.

Luckily I have one.

How much is 640.000 plat/64.000 orbs in your currency ? That’s the cost of a 5*/5 on the market for the most demanded ones. On my side, it is close to the 1.200€ without discount.

With this event, you not only get an upgrade but also some gems/crest… without having to compete on the market for the 5/5 of your choice.

Trying it through luck with LC run is way more expensive.

I guess that waiting the last days to spend would also be less expensive than the 1.200 local currrency.

Waiting even longer for the market to lower prices is also cheaper. 1.200 for P2F is not that exagerated, imo.

My local currency is UK Sterling. A quick look in the shop…

A £75.99 bundle would get 6000 + 1200 orbs, i.e. 7200 orbs.
Nine of these bundles would get 64,800 orbs.

£75.99 * 9 = £683.91

Approximate currency conversation rate of sterling to euros is… £1 = 1.19 euro

So, £683.91 * 1.19 = 813.85 euro

1200 euro is roughly 47% more expensive.

For a long time, i did not know that the best value for orbs was not in the in-game store. It’s outside the game in the Battlenet shop. Twice as many orbs for a slightly lower cost than in-game.
