Just like the new gem upgrade system would be good if we could awake a slot since rank 5 giving us +5% skill effect, another 1% in rank 6 and so on. This gives a lot of sense to the awaken equipment and encourage players to buy the dawning echo for all 8 pieces. At least I would buy them all just for the extra power.
I see no problem with this as long as people are happy to pay for it and do not want the dawning echo for free. It facilitates people who do not have 100K to spend to compete a little better, without giving massive benefits that 9k+ resonance players have.
In short, I see no massive effect other than benefits for Dolphins and part-time spenders, with very little detriment to big spenders.
EDIT - To be fair to people who have already spent a lot of money awakening 8 slots, perhaps making it in two stages. That is at level five you get half the benefits of level 10 which can be fully awakened at level 10.
e.g. 10% CDR, 10%DR, 10%DMG etc would be 5% at level 5. Making people purchase only once would be good otherwise it looks like avarice. Getting all to 10 for low spenders may never happen so it’s a good idea.
I have 8 awakened slots, one rank 10 gem, and 5 rank 5 gems. I would LOVE to get a 5% awakening buff at rank 5, would make gem bag much more useful to swap in for different builds
It really makes no difference more ppl have them just makes lethality more for all players
