Combat rating increase

I’ve noticed that when replacing an item with one of higher CR, the brief upgrade listing that appears shows a much higher CR increase than the difference between the 2 items, many times higher in fact. Of course the actual CR in the Atrributes only reflects the real upgrade amount. Does anyone know the reason for this?

it shows the total stats being added and removed, it does not show the differences between the two

No, it doesn’t.

If I find an upgrade that would add, let’s say, an increase of 20CR compared to an 1880 CR item I currently have equipped, when I do equip it, the list of stats will include something around 270-280 CR. Now, that figure clearly isn’t the CR increase (i.e. stats being added) and it’s also not the total CR the item has on it (as Hell 3 legendary items at paragon 300+ have 1900+ CR).

Yes, that’s exactly right. But why?

are you including item, gem and rank?

Maybe that’s the reason. Thanks.

Okay, here are some screenshots demonstrating…

Equipped chest has 1847 CR.
Unequipped chest has 1886 CR.
The unequipped chest is a 39 CR increase to the equipped chest…

This is the upgrade options, where the gear rank and gems are transferred…

This is what gets shown when the new item is increased…

This shows increases of…

  • 259 Combat Rating
  • 596 Vitality
  • 705 Fortitude
  • 726 Life

The chest is Rank 30, so the CR bonus from rank is 220 CR, so if that’s combined with the actual 39 CR increase of the item, that would get to the 259 CR that’s being shown but the point is, the existing chest had that 220, so does the new one, the actual increase is 39 CR, not 259 CR.

Maybe it is different on different servers but that makes no sense?
I have read what is posted and honestly, I replaced a piece of gear tonight that was previous 1839 CR with a new on that was 1947. My CR increase was exactly 108.

While the additional stats certainly assist and in many cases can make an item with 3 properties and a slightly lower CR a better choice (if not ridiculous), I have not found the CR reflects the change-over incorrectly? Sorry…
