My legendary gems consist of one 1-star, six 2-stars and one 5-star.
With an upgrade today, my 1-star and 2-star gems are now all Rank 10
This leaves my 5-star needing upgrades. It’s a Rank 4 Bloodsoaked Jade.
Upgrading that BSJ from Rank 4 to 5 takes 5 duplicates and 250 gem power.
Okay, let’s take a quick look at the Marketplace…
- There aren’t even 5 quality 2 BSJs on the Market.
- The going price for BSJs seems to be around 63-64K plat each.
- The going price for 1-star gems is around 450 plat each.
This means, if I was going to purchase these, I would need…
- (5 * 63500) + (250 * 450) = 317,500 + 112,500 = 430,000 plat
So, how long will this upgrade take…
- 300 plat per day from the Codex tasks, 2100 plat a week
- Selling some non-bound Sapphires / Aquamarines from Lairs, maybe another 2000 plat a week
- Selling an occasional rune drop, maybe an average of 1000 a week?
That means earning roughly 5K plat per week.
- 430,000 / 5000 = 86 weeks
Okay, so…
- Telluric pearls means I could get a couple of BSJs, which takes off 25 weeks.
- Rare crests, legendary crests, eternal legendary crests might take care of another 100 gem power, which takes off 20 weeks.
That still leaves 86 - (25 + 20) = 41 weeks.
This means that Rank 4 to 5 upgrade will probably take 9-10 months unless I get incredibly lucky and get some BSJ duplicates from the legendary crests.
I’m stuck.

So what solution or suggestion do you have in mind to combat this issue?
For me, I think they should:
- Allow us to buy 1 5-star gem (let us pick the gem we want) every month with gold or platinum at an affordable price from NPC
-OR-
- We are allowed to pick the gem we wanted after we spent 50 Legendary Crests in codex or NPC
-OR-
- Drastically increase the drop rate of 2-star gems and 5-stars for Legendary Crest usage
-OR-
- Reduce the pity from 50 to 30 for legendary crests and 40 Telluric Pearl requirement to 30.
and the gem power for 3/5 , 4/5 and 5/5 should give different amount fo gem power than 2/5 (32 gem powers)
For example:
2/5 gives 32 gem power
3/5 gives 40 gem power
4/5 gives 48 gem power
5/5 gives 56 gem power
So when we get the bound unused 5-star gem with 4/5 for our character build, we can use it to feed our main legendary gems without feeling it was a waste considering we can’t sell them to market.

I didn’t have one in mind at all, really. Was more just a sense of realisation along the lines of “Oh, no more upgrades for almost a year”
I’m also at the stage where non-legendary gems are multi-week / multi-month upgrades because most of them are already Rank 7+
My legendaries have been Rank 30 for many, many months (I have 981K scraps and 102K dusts).
As for my set items, 5 of them are Rank 20, the other 3 are Rank 18.
My Helliquary is Rank 69, so I’m only a couple more weeks from capping that at 70.
Essentially, I’m at the point where the only CR upgrades are going to come from raid boss remains, tableau upgrades (each upgrade now only gets me 2CR) and higher CR legendary drops.
I don’t know, I always had stuff to work towards that might take a few weeks and now I’ve hit a wall where it’s months / a year. Kind of disheartening…

Afaik you are in a top clan where you regularly cycle through being immo and shadow which means you have access to some extra legendary crests so you can gain below crests.
Orange crests per week:
- 1 from trader
- 1 from Kion (immortal members)/winning shadow wars (top shadow clan member)
- 1 from legendary accursed towers
- 1 from hilts trader if you are Immo
Purple crests per week:
- 1,25 from fading embers (you can buy 5 every 4 weeks)
- 1 from trader after a wb raid
Monthly orange crests:
- 1 from free BP
- 1 from hilts trader
- 2 on avarage from events
That’s 25 legendary crests per month which avarages roughly to 75 gp.
Apart from these you should use 95 rare crests for embers every month which is avarages for another 9 gp.
The event center gives you 10 1* gems so that’s 10 gp.
The total is 94 gp/month. This means you can get enough gp for the upgrade in just 3 months.
The dupes are harder to come by of course, for those you need to sacrefice your normal gems if you want the upgrade but considering that you already have rank 7 gems it’s not a big deal really. The required amount of gems and plat for the echo is already quite high (1458 copies and 15 echos for 7500 plat for every gem) anyway. You can get 63+84 unbound gems per week which you most probably can sell for a net ~8-10k plat. You can also sell some pets, some runes for 1-2000 a week maybe and if you really need plat you can sell terror essences as well. Realistically you should be able to make ~12-15k plat/week so you could buy a copy almost every month and if you sell your unbound leg gems as well you can surely upgrade your bsj in 4-5 months to rank 5 and another 8-10 months to rank 6 (to get the dmg boost).
You can also get lucky with one of your purple crest or rune drop but I wouldn’t count on that. Upgarding 5 star gems is a very long run as f2p but rank 5 is possible. Other goals that you can work towards
- Aweken your gems and fill them up with socketed gems.
- Replace one of your 1/2* gems with a 5* and rank that one up to rank 4 (roiling conseq is pretty strong)
- Collect gear with good affixes instead of high cr
- Change class and collect essences

yup i havent bought my 2 crests for plat this week because thats all I’d have left. I’m 250 from 3k and who knows when or if that will happen

I’ve also said the progression of gem power from tier to tier should be more. 2*=32. But the increase should be by 16 since it’s a steady progression. 3*=48. Unfortunately, this was suggested more than a year ago. However, keep up with feedback.
