The pit shows that the (WW)-DustDevil build has simply been nerfed too much. I have tried all sorts of variations with tempering and masterworking. DD-Size is set to 100% and everything else to cast twice or DD-Ehnanced Damage combined with damage while berserking or other damage affixes. From pit 40 onwards, the bossfight in particular becomes very tedious. You fight forever only to suddenly die from an oneshot from the boss.
It is extremely difficult to get the DD on the boss and the reason for this is simply that the nerfs with the caps, the fast movement and disappearance of the DD have been set too high. That’s why the way the DD move is not nice and completely unnatural compared to the PTR
It’s an extreme pity that this build has been so nerfed compared to the PTR, which is again thanks to these streamers. For a normal player, this takes away a lot of the fun.
I don’t think it’s an argument that the graphics cards are on fire or whatever other nonsense I’ve read. The nerf could have been done purely visually, for example by reducing the number of DDs for other players and making them appear more transparent.
I hope in the future blizzard gets away from orienting itself towards these streamers and their followers who whine that everything is op.
I think it would be a much better Diablo and keep a lot more people motivated.
Damage while berserking has the biggest impact on barbarian damage output because it’s a global multiplicative damage multiplier. You should have about 500% before masterworking. Amulet, 2 rings, gloves, 4 weapons. If you hit a plateau on damage, the next best thing is to increase attack speed. Higher attack rate means more damage per second.
do you think every build should be able to do over lvl 40 pits? IMO WW DD is in a good place and it burns the game to the ground untill you get to the true end game stuff where it falls off and I think that seems fine. Honestly WWDD is too strong for most of the rest of the game
I’m confused to what you are saying… are you talking about higher tiers of the pit? Because I was able to clear the pit first run (and the remaining three other runs I’ve done) with absolute ease as WW Barb. My first run was at around level 83 and for the most part I don’t even use shouts until I get to boss and then it just melts within two seconds.
As far as i know, since 1-2 patches Berserker have also only additive. But yes, i have already tried that, that i had the increased damage for berserker on every item.
Yeah i think so. Honestly, every Build is too strong for most of the rest the game.
What I see as the problem with the ww dust devil build is the resource constraints.
The damage from the build is fine not as high as double swing but ok. While yes, you have a chance to get fury back on hit when you deal direct damage with ww it is unreliable.
I did the math on resource cost reduction last night as to what you would need to do maintain ww once you start.
You would have to get perfect rolls of on your rings and amulet. Then you would need to get perfect tempering for resource cost reduction rolls as well and then master work them up to at least master working level 5 on the rings and amulet if you are unlucky and the resource cost reduction doesn’t get the crit at level 4. Resource cost reduction while helpful is something that the barbarian shouldn’t have to take considering the need to put resists on gear to mitigate damage from those other sources.
So being limited on the amount of affix slots on gear isn’t a good thing. Did they need to remove a lot of the excess useless stats yes but making it to where you only get 3 affixes on gear without tempering is a downgrade in my opinion.
Are the builds now really strong now yes, but they are still in need of love.
What I think they should do is go through the stat pools again and combine some into one and then add back the ability to have 4 base affixes to gear before tempering.
Example all of the different elemental damage types just make it + elemental damage instead of having 5-7 different damage type stats. They already got rid of a lot of the defensive stats that were overwhelming the affix pools. how about breaking it down more.
Im playing wwdd and and already done 73 lvl pit. I dont feel mobs but boss fights is long. 2 uber uniques really affect this build: starless sky + amulet for tankiness. Will tru get grandfather to push to 90+ with this build
Uh everything should be able to complete all of the content. If it stalls out, that is a problem. Should every “build” work, no, if you build poorly absolutely not. Every Core Skills, Basic Skill, Weapon Mastery Skill, Brawling Skill, Thorns, Iron Maelstrom, CoTA should ALL be able to be built to complete all content.
everything is not going to be end game ready that is just silly and defeats the purpose of playing the game at all. also its pretty clear from some of the comments here that you have just done a poor job of building your WWDD barb
That is the dumbest comment. Arbitrarily designing some Skills to be good and clear all content and some not as good and struggle is just bad design and game balance. Will some builds outperform others in any given Season? Yes, but that isn’t the goal or intent. It just is a byproduct of introducing new Items, Aspects, Content, etc.
Just drop from duriel rota, what build details do u need? Paragon board Rob’s build, + uber uniques. Closed 88th pit today. But seems 100 will be maximum for the build its too weak anyway.
And i found out that solo target recieve mach more dmg if u spam button instead hold it. In this way dust devils almost always hit target
That’s… interesting. I wonder if rapid fire controller for PC does anything? Maybe even do rapid fire animation canceling since damage calculation happens before animation.
How do you guys feel about the idea of having an aspect that makes dust devils seek out targets (like the druid one) and at the same time shouts cannot spawn them. I think it would give us a lot more control and will remove the shouting and the quantity of them spawned. I personally hate that, feels like i play a shout build, and the “flashing” of the screen with every shout is rly annoying … So what do you guys think ?
On the PTR, the movements of the Dust Devil were very good. Very harmonious and pleasant to place them. Now, however, they jerk around so hectically, completely unnatural movement for such a vertebrate. It doesn’t look good, and it’s also not nearly as nice to play with anymore.
Agreed. I am the only one in my guild who is a dust devil barb. Others are mostly minon necro and bash barb, and a few sorcs. Is this what you wanted Blizz? Please stop nerfing builds in a hurry after reviewing one or two streamers’ video clips. You made these mistakes last year already.
