Has anyone been able to notice any improvement in damage output if you stack attack speed for WW?
I stack it on my golves, rings and amulet, but have notice no increase in damage output at all, or lucky hit procs.
So is attack speed just a vanity affix to makes us look more ridiculous when spinning?
I can confirm that there are more hits per second, but at the same time it drains fury per spin instead of fury per second, which makes fury management a nightmare. Though if u use Starlight aspect it mitigates this and u can spin indefinitely and never run out of fury
thanks for clarifying, but that makes this situation more hilarious, we still do no damage
is it confirmed? I’m looking to somehow increase ww fury cost without lucion or unbridled rage. If I have 25 ww fury cost per second with no bonus attack speed will it be 50 per second with 100% attack speed bonus?
All I know is if you double tap WW and channel it makes u spin hella fast, and drains the fury fast too… Idk how it works… Only what I see happening
Attack speed does affect whirlwind. This is noticeable when you pick up artillery shrine. The spin doesn’t matter, that’s just the animation. What really matters is the ticks of damage while channeling. There’s more ticks in the long run. Like 30 seconds of spinning.
Slight diversion from the topic, but has anyone tested what impact all the +ranks to WW and + core skills has?
I tried last night and I could not notice much difference between having +18 ranks to WW (7 from gohrs, 4 from shako, 2 from starless, 5 from skill points) on a direct damage WW build.
I think this had WW doing 54% damage but it still didn’t make much impact in damage increase. Am I going crazy here, or is WW just that bad, or is something broken/bugged?
You should be tapping WW never hold it.
If you have fury issues
• Get fury per second on chest or legs or boots
• Put anger management aspect cost 2 fury a sec
• Run the unique berserking helmet get 2 fury a sec when Berserking
• Rings Mythic Uber Stars if you dont have that run aspect to get six Fury per second while Berserking
• other ring run the aspect that gives 40 fury when you heal 20% of your hp that will give you a full fury bar with every iron skin
• Run fury on kill on a two hander
• run the crt gliff that gives fury on crt hit
In the talent tree go 3/3 Fury Gen when Berserking with anger management that will be at 100% of the time

Check the tooltip value when you’re in town. See if the value changes when you equip gear with +ranks. If you’re not seeing different damage numbers when hitting a monster, that’s not whirlwind itself but your other interactions that can multiple WW damage output.
I’m just wondering, but why do we tap WW instead of hold it?
It procs Tyrael’s might on every click. If you hold it procs a lot less.

Ah, so if we don’t have Tyreal’s, we’re fine to channel?
Button mashing whirlwind is optimal because you’ll deal damage per button press instead of waiting for the channeling tick.
Does violent whirlwind still work when you button mash? I thought the damage increased when channeled.
No you need to channel for at least 2 whole seconds. It’s up to the player to decide if that’s worth the DPS.
Im still trying to master the art of tapping as i always end up holding down especially when in panic mode
In S4 button tapping was optimal as attack speed did not benefit WW. This led to higher dust devil and Tyrael procs.
Is tapping still the way to go in S5? Given the higher attack speed - does tapping continue to outperform straight channeling? If it does - is there any benefit in attack speed at all?
Button tapping is also increased with Attack Speed now as well. WW damage isn’t coming from Direct Damage so you can pretty much ignore Violent Whirlwind and anything that requires you to channel for X seconds before Y result. DD and Bleed tapping is still the way to go. With MW Lucky Hit FoF you can spam attacks so quickly it overcomes WWs naturally low Lucky Hit modifier.
Keep in mind there is an ICD on dust devils so attack speed will not increase the production of these and will just make your rage run out that much faster.
