I feel like blizzard is consistently wasting opportunities regarding the amount of things developed each season that get yeeted into a dumpster once the season is over.
I was shocked that the Realm walker wasn’t added to the base game. I understand a lot of people didn’t enjoy a lot of its mechanics (which could be tweaked easily like for example making undercity tributes work it) but it was still added content.
A huge reason why POE is soo successful is that it has a decades worth of added content. Even if the realm walker wasn’t a hUgE hIt, it was still a cool thing, a unique boss that roams around the world. Why remove that? Also I understand that seasonal powers would become broken and unbalanced outside of the season and are difficult to balance, but the seasonal quests and stories were still interesting and people who just want to play diablo 4 for its story completely miss out on that content.
I think a simple obvious solution is to migrate all of the seasonal quests and stories into the eternal realm, and you would play through them after completing the campaign, they would be additional campaign content that you would play through in order (malignant, blood, autamoton etc.) and while you are playing through the seasonal quest story lines you would have access to those seasonal powers, once you complete that seasons questline, you lose those powers and the new seasonal questline begins.
This would make the eternal realm relevant for players that A) want to play through all of the story content and B) want to play around w past seasonal powers that they really enjoyed.
Simply throwing all of the seasonal content that wasn’t an aBsOlUtE hIt to every single d4 player into a never ending dumpster fire seems like a waste of Dev time, resources and a MASSIVE wasted opportunity that actually does hurt D4 in the long run as D4 will always feel like it doesnt have enough content compared to games like POE.
It’s not likely Blizzard just dumps or deletes content.
It will all be recycled or used in some form or another.
A novel idea, but no.
Not nearly enough of the playerbase even stay / play in eternal at all.
I agree it’s unfair how the eternal realm has been patched so far, but I dont see the dev’s putting all of the previous seasonal content in Eternal for players.
It would be nice if a few of the popular mechanics were added, however.
I initially thought in S1 that I would be able to keep earned gear from the Season, just not be able to interact (such as removing the gems or adding gems to new gear) in Eternal. I was disappointed, yes. But that was back in S1, and I got over it.
Yes, it’s a shame. Eternal gets the short end of the stick.
Imagine not being able to read ~250 words. A handful of people on this form write multitudes multiple times per thread and they never take flak for it.
OP I agree. Additions make the game novel and it’s part of the reason why I love PoE. Diablo feels a bit stagnant. They were pretty up from from the beginning though that they wouldn’t really be adding seasonal content into the base game. It sucks but it is what it is. Play D4 for a week then go back to PoE.
They aren’t reading it because there is no spaces… Not 1.
It’s litterally a Wall - o - Text.
I believe IMO if you want people to read/understand and RESPOND, make it easier for them to read.
Press the “ENTER KEY” after every few sentences.
That isn’t so hard, Hell you did it.
I do it all the time.
A good amount of us (well a certain amount of us) spends a lot of time on their cell/pc/tv.
Just press the ENTER Key…that’s all that’s being said here.
Season of Malignant - Summon bosses
Season of Blood - Vampire Pacts were probably testing ground for Runes
Season of Constructs - Mercenaries (pet was testing ground for mercs)
Season of Loot Reborn - Item rework - Blood Maiden- The Pit- Tempering- GAffixes
Season of Infernal Hordes - Infernal Hordes
Season of Witchcraft - Witch Powers seems like a testing ground for faction based power system (maybe in future update youll be able to pledge your character to Rogues,Druids,Barbs and etc) so you can be a rogue pledged to Rogues but you can also be a druid pledged to Spiritborn factions.
I believe the game would be 300 GB. But I think it’s a waste too. I understand that the powers would be difficult to add due to the overlap. But why not leave the family of monsters, Malphas, etc. I think the seasons should be more focused on expanding the systems and not on borrowed powers.
I can agree. Other then “mats” it would be nice for us to keep some kind of “power” from a season. Not a lot but just a liiiiitle bit. Like maybe the Barber heart…thingy from season 1.
I agree. If anything they should bring it back, (rarely) but also make it “faster” and the rewards better.
I also agree. May have to tone Down these said powers, that’s all.
I’m kind’a thinking that they’ll “eventually” re do every season, just slightly different then the 1st time around.
Which if they do, I’m not sure a lot people are gonna like that. Lol
Oh look boys, we got one of them 6+ stash tab poe elitists. Door is that way buddy, we dont like people who think theyre smarter than people who are actually paid to do their job. Blizz devs have their reasons, maybe you should actually listen
I think they are doing this already to some extent. Pieces of previous systems have been added to eternal, while other seasons have been testing grounds for new mechanics that become part of core.
I can understand the desire to replay some of the stories from the seasons. But more than likely they’d have to be reworked so that the borrowed power would be outside the confines of the seasonal mission. (i.e: the artifact pet only joins you in special trap dungeons)
