How can the once upon a time genre leader make a game that is just finished after campaign? i mean sure you have a 500hr grindfest to get to 100 if you want that, but then you have to do one single thing for all those hours, namely nightmare dungeons. There is just nothing else todo other than an occational world boss, legion or helltide or whatever. This is insane for an arpg where the game really usually begins after campaign and maxlevel.
I love the base game and it can probably be cool with tons of expansions, but they really should have a few more options at launch too. I am completely bored at lvl 78, and i have been since lvl 70. I have never experienced that with any other high end arpg before.
And there really is no point to hunt for loot anymore either after like lvl 60. As soon as you get to wt4 and get your hands on some decently rolled ancestrals, you are basically done. There is nothing else to hunt for that will bring any meaningful power to your character. I mean come on, the loot thrill is usually at the very core of these games, and here its totally absent. I know about the superuniques, and thats fine, but way to rare for it to be any thrill.

If you had free range to come up with any sort of “endgame” that doesnt already exist in D4, what would you suggest? Keep in mind this is an ARPG so it has to be something that obviously makes sense and fits the gameplay.

Well anything more diverse really. Boss instances? Like make som shards or whatever drop that when combined gives you access to a certain boss with its own loot table. Maybe have 5 different of those. Add sets to the game. Add items that you can use to further modify your items, so far only possible to enchant one stat. Daily quests or whatever that can net you same exp per time as nightmare dungeons and some possibility of other nice rewards. More events like helltide but different obviously. Group finder so i can actually play with other people and get some freshness to the tedious dungeons. I dont know really. Just looking at other games like POE theres so much you can do thats worth your time.

I did level 70 capstone dungeon at level 59. Boss was hard 2 shotted me. But it was fun. I would want regular “capstone” type dungeons every few levels. Where the boss fight is challenging. So your nightmare dungeon gear goes to work on something rather then just higher level nightmare dungeons. Will it completely fix end game idk. But atleast it will feel a bit better. And you have regular goals to achieve.

Wtf i just wrote a very long reply, and it didnt post. Cant be bothered again. But look at POE for example, just so many differernt things, bosses, instances etc that is rewarding.
PoE’s base endgame is maps, so, nightmare dungeons.
PoE also adds new mechanics every season, so wait for D4’s seasons to start.

And when POE first came out was all of this available? Or did they tune and figured it out over time with differnt seasons? Im not being sarcastic, i barely played POE so i dont know.

What’s your highest completed nightmare dungeon?
There needs to be some type of tough end game bosses involved with progressing through nightmare dungeons.

Nightmare dungeons are basically mythic+
All diablo is really missing are instanced raids that must be completed with a group with limited resurrections and unique gears.

Your post is out of touch based on this right here.
Do you remember what the endgame of D2 was? D3, even?
Are you sure this isn’t your first ARPG and you’re just putting together random information you’ve found, mashing it together, and presenting it as facts?

Always found the build a city thing like in wolcen interesting - not game changing but gives you “results” for going out farming.
Next is Crafting – let me craft my UBER wepaon - give me the materials for doing Nightmare Dungeons.
Offer me that carrot on a stick worth chasing — Diablo4 has no such carrot once story is finished - it simply turns out into a Last Epoch pointless map running with no real chance on an upgrade for days/weeks

Great question.
What id like to see get added as a baseline is all the boss fights with the ability to replay and they can be capstones for 70 80 and 90, then make the level 100 unlock the bosses again at a level 100 mode.
Aside from that I think they also need to add way more uniques into the game and actually make them way rarer and only drop from X activity.
I have all the uniques on my rogue already aside from the obvious mega mega rares.
My mates Barb already has his and he has like 3 viable ones he can wear at any moment; my rogue uses like 1 that’s viable and most rogue ones are super niche and they need more broad ones (that are rarer for chase items)

Something like baalruns . I dont say it was good but it was epic battle. so for this age and this game can be somethin more epic like attack/defend they did it well with stronghold and it could be made with that something epic …but can be huge open space with many many players like when fighting world bosses.
I enjoy stronghold system and I would love to make it much bigger.
Because Diablo 4 is the endgame for Diablo 3 lol
I’m off the whole meph/baal runs over and over. But i do like your idea of attack/defend scenarios, or some sort of “bullet hell” mode where you just gotta last wave after wave with your team.
I’m still holding my breath for the upcoming seasons to see what they bring to the table before i judge.

Blizz is thinking that pvp is the currebt end-game, but pvp now is realky bad designed.
Nightmare dungeons as they are now are just farming activities, not end-game. They need to add leaderboards if they want to turn dungeons into end-game.
By level 80 that sense of progression is non existence. People in this thread really want a long term goal to shoot for. With small distraction along the way. Nothing too grindy or insane level of farming.
Dunno 45 or so i guess. Are you telling me 70 nm dungeons are drastically different?
