Why is there no endgame

Personally I’ve found there to be a lot of different things to do but hopefully whatever seasons brings adds interesting new content.

I am pretty sure yes. I am 44 years old and played all major titles in this genre since d1 vanilla. Sure i am no expert about everything, but i’m pretty sure something is wrong when i feel done with the game after 1 week. As i said that has never happened to me before with new arpgs unless its some junk title. I mean i am usually thrilled for weeks and months. But i just feel finished now at 78. What else is there to discover? sure i can squeeze some more dmg out with more perfect rolled gear, but thats about it. I dont say i have all the answers, just stating the fact that its really alarming for me to feel done with such a title so soon.

PoE maps is endlessly more customizeable then nightmare dungeons. Its just a way more fleshed out system with a better progression. Filling out the Atlas to earn points so you can customize your mapping with the Atlas tree. Scarabs, Sextants, Delirium Orbs, Vaaling them for 8 mods with super high rarity, pack size and quant.
Bossmaps like Elder, Shaper, Conqueror maps. Unique maps etc etc etc. They are not even in the same universe as far as endgame goes.

Plus maps offer target farming. Where you can farm divination cards to then finally get that item you want.

There is an endgame, it’s pushing nightmare dungeon tiers. To really push it you need to min max your gear and build. It’s not rewarding though so you might feel there is no point of doing it.

If you had free range to come up with any sort of “endgame” that doesnt already exist in D4, what would you suggest? Keep in mind this is an ARPG so it has to be something that obviously makes sense and fits the gameplay.

Chase items, a way to trade for chase items, and farmable boss drops. The genre is built on grinding for items. “15 years of cumulative T4 and one guy dropped a Shako” in a solo self found game means that it isn’t a chase item. The item might as well not exist. Grinding for the same item with 3 more dps and 5 more main stat is D3 casual arpg at its finest. There’s currently nothing to realistically grind for in the end game, which is a huge miss for Blizzard.

“Why is there no endgame?”

Goes on to list all the endgame modes in D4.

Y’all are truly hilarious.

This game has significantly more endgame than any other Diablo had on release. What more do people want exactly?

There is the same end game that all Diablo games have. Have you ever played any of them because it doesn’t seem like it at all.

Did you even play d2? lol.

What i would actually love to see is a Mage Tower type thing like in retail wow . A very hard solo experience you can do per class to unlock awesome tmogs that can be further unlocked by doing things around Sanctuary.

People will complain because of how hard they are but who cares. Its supposed to be super hard. Something that takes 100-300 tries to get done. Would be cool as an accomplishment and give people reasons to grind it further for cooler colors and trims.

They could even do multiple ones for each class and give you a template skill / talent set you have to play with in order to beat it. That would be awesome.

Wrong but ok. Did you even play any of them?

So your saying you want “more” end game. There is plenty of current end game for a game that just released.

How long was D4 in development? That’s how long they’ve had to come up with a better version of what we call end game.
Not to mention better versions of a LOT of things in this game. But that’s for another thread.

So tier sets aren’t in the game ?

Essentially 4 years, when they scratched what was originally going to be D4, changed directions, and got a new director.

Gotta be careful with set items. They can totally break the game, just look at D3.

I honestly feel the same way. The thought of more dungeon runs to get more really bad gear, then going back to town to navigate the annoying rate maze, just to salvage it…is nauseating. World bosses are all of 4 minutes of brainless clicking so I don’t really consider that as another activity. And helltide is really just more of the same, except with red lighting. The fact that I’m getting horrible stuttering and getting disconnected a few times a day (despite gigabit internet and high end pc) def doesn’t help.

There is absolutely zero way to balance tier sets. I like them because they are cool but balance wise its a nightmare.

All they should do is make them kinda cool and semi decent… but like 80% of legendaries.

However the set effect TMOG looks awesome if you tmog and have found every piece of the set. THEN its cool. You get an awesome TMOG and prove youve found it etc etc.

Balancing wise its a lose/lose though.

im a bit worried about hitting 100.

in d3 id keep going to perfect gear and get more paragons.

here theres a limit to the paragons it just ends at 100 so the perfection of the gear will probably feel futile.

gotta switch to a mindset where if i hit 100 i try something new, not getting too attached. bummer

it works while i do have new things i want to try but that will run out eventually heh

You really want to know why there is no true endgame yet?

Because the game is 2 weeks old and people are already complaining about it. If the entire thing really was out, people would already have done everything then they would be complaining that there was nothing else to do.

So, they don’t really have an upside to putting everything out on day one. There will ALWAYS be someone complaining that they did it all within a few days and are now bored.

So they stagger the content. Always leave them wanting more. Next time, treat it more like a game to fill your free time, not a job. Might feel less bored so quickly.
